Guest kuzzy Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Hey there flying folks I was wondering, what does anybody know about the Karatoo? Are they a good aircraft, good handling, sufficient cabin space, strong and reliable, available spares? I think they are a nice looking aircraft, very similar in appearance to the Lightwing; how do they stack up against it?
Yenn Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Kuzzy I havn't flown in one but they appeal to me. If you look on page 10 of the members list you will find KiwiKTP, who lists his a/c as a Karatoo. To find him go to top of this page, Tools, then members. I suggest yo could try contacting him. Len Neal of Callide Dawson Flying group has recently built one and I will see if I can find his contact details.
vk3auu Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I had a sit in one with Stan Jarman at Holbrook at a flyin at Easter about 12 years ago and we came to the conclusion that with the appropriate engine, it would be a very desirable aeroplane. This was before the Rotax 912 was available. David
Yenn Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I was expecting to see Len Neal today at a fly in but he didn't show up. I found his phone number so if interested you could give him a ring. He is in Biloela Qld Phone 0749923959.
BigPete Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Karatoo? Ummm.... would that be a cross between a Kangaroo and a cockatoo? sorry - can't help myself. regards
Guest rocketman Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Martin Hone up in Gatton, QLD had one but has since sold it. Ray Baines in QLD also has one but don't have his contact details handy. Contact me PM and I'll see if I can chase them down. Neale.
