Hirth Engine

Hi all Have recently purchased an aircraft with a Hirth 2706 on board which now has no spark on either ign circuits I suspect the CDI units. Has anyone experiance with these motors especially on how to check the CDI units (Iskra 16754076) or if there is an agent in Aust or where i could get a couple of these CDI units

Why not just buy them out of the US? Hirth aren't active in Australia are they?

Hi Robert,

 

I can claim no experience of this engine but would suggest you check around your ignitions. What I mean to say is unless one was gone when you bought it, it's unlikely both have died together. Is there a common 12V supply? What triggers the ignition if it's separate to the CDI unit? I'd be looking for something common before splashing out on new parts.

There's a US distributor. Might be better to contact them unless you speak fluent German. I was easily able to find service instructions for this engine (2706). As usual it may be necessary to replace a unit to check it. Can't see why both would fail at the same time. Nev

Yes i have a manual (downloaded) but doesnt say much about the ign system

 

Mainly want to know it parts still avail but not much luck there
