Guest disperse Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I was surprised to find trike training dearer then a jabiru (or other 3-axis) I would of thought it would be the other way with a jabiru being dearer to buy and dearer to run, then even a 4-stroke trike I've been wrong before and it may happen again:;)3:
Guest Crezzi Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 A number of possible reasons - the depreciation on trikes is a lot more. In most cases, its not possible to get insurance so theres the risk factor of the plane being totalled. The weather window for training is less than 3-axis so instructor has to run their business on less flying hours per year Less competition might be a factor as well ;-) John
Guest disperse Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 thanks for that John..... it's got me thinking wheather or not it would be feesable to do tri axis training first and then a weight shift indorsment seeing as though there is about $50/h difference in price as over 20hrs i would save the equivilent to 6hrs weight shift training so it comes down to the time needed for the weight shift endorsment
Guest Crezzi Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Thats certainly option but I doubt it would work out being a cheaper way to get a trike licence. You would have to do the maths of 10 hours for your conversion to trikes in addition to the 25 hours for 3-axis. I have no evidence on this but I suspect that getting a trike licence is more likely in the minimum 20 hours than 3-axis. John John
