Guest ianymeany Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hi Glen and all I am not great at introductions so I will make it brief I have been an aviation fanatic from 4 years old, when my parents put me on a Butler DC3 from Parkes to Sydney - year was 1953. I obtained a PPL in 1966 but had a long spell from private flying - due to working as an underground coal miner for near 40 years - but have recently been flying again in RAAus - and love it. I enjoy going to airshows etc, even just to my local fields of Redcliffe, Cabolture and Caloundra for a look, and I take thousands of photos - digital has been the greatest thing to happen in aircraft photography. I hope to meet a lot of you at the fly ins and shows. Best regards and safe skies Ian (Ianymeany)
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Gday Ian, Nice to have you join us. Yes, digital; certainly has made quite a difference. What bird do you fly?

Guest ianymeany Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Many thanks mate I was in kiwiland (south) a few months back for a holiday - ****** brilliant country (and people - the few that are still left there) Catch you in the air sometime Ian
Guest Chainsaw Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi Chainey and thanks mateI am a Canon user - did not like the rest, and fly Tecnam 7300 out of Redcliffe Wot about you? Ian Ian, Like you I am a Canon user (50D). I'm not a flyer, but am a very keen spotter. I monitor ACARS logs, watch PlanePlotter and listen to ATC. TAA is my home online for planes. I'm not close to any airport but right under a major flight path. Yes, like all good spotters, I run outside...LOTS. :)
Guest David C Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Ian .... A man after my own heart , a Canon user ... and a Tecnam pilot also .. I fly a hired Jab out of The Oaks , I don't own one I'm afraid , my funds are not quite up to it .. I am endorsed on the Tecnam P96 , a lovely plane and a delight and easy to land , a great advantage where I'm concerned ... All the best mate .. Dave C
Guest David C Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks DaveWhere is the Oaks? You will find The Oaks at about 6 miles SW of Camden Airport in NSW . It has a single grass runway 18/36 about 900M long . It is a very lively little airfield , and very friendly too .. You can clearly see the airfield on Google Earth .. Dave C
