Guest Michael Coates Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Well sports fans, it is getting onto that time of year again where a young man's interest turns to Natfly and why should you be any different. X-Air Australia is fortunate to have three prime sites located right on the corner alongside the main runway and the main taxiway at the Temora event and I would like to extend the invitation for any of the members here to drop by and utilise some of our facilities which we make available for the comfort of our guests. This year we have organised for some hay bales which make ideal seating, these will be strategically placed around our sites to offer both shade and a perfect view of the runway. There will also be a generous supply of cold drinks available and as per previous years some beautiful hot cross buns every morning for those that miss breakfast or simply want to have a mid-morning top-up. Finally, we will have high-speed Internet access available for anybody wishing to check the weather before they depart for home. mmmmm... I can almost smell the hot cross buns already! Look forward to seeing you all at Natfly Temora.
Guest Glenn Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Michael, once again your generosity is much appreciated. I am going to be there for sure this year. Looking forward to it
winsor68 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I have a family wedding in Townsville over easter weekend... Bugger! I just told the missus we are going next year and she didn't say no... so I will take that as a yes. Would be even nicer to fly but will have to add that to the must do basket in 2012.
GAJab Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Highly commended Michael, sounds good I am looking forward to the tasty treats. Last year Dianne from Punkinhead airsports had Easter Eggs at her stand so now I have another place to visit for treat top-ups. It's great that businesses like yours at Natfly offer some hospitality, conversation and a comfortable chair rather than just peddle your their allegedly discounted merchandise or overpriced aircraft. I also admire those businesses like yours that have developed their own products to assist the Australian aviation scene with Research and Development into a local product rather than just importing crappy alternatives from overseas. See you there. NC
TAA Qwerty Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm looking forward to Temora and to visiting your site MC. I asked somewhere else but didn't get an answer, how am I to recognise a TAA member at Temora other that asking everyone that I meet like an idiot.
Guest Glenn Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Just meet at MC's place and introduce each other. Or would you like some name tags done up?
Guest Chainsaw Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 The big red targets on your skulls will give you away LOL
TAA Qwerty Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Targets sounds like an appropriate idea (I'm Tasmanian so perhaps a convict arrow pointing up might be better). How about a 15 mm dia red and white target sticker on the shirt pocket, and for those who were about to say "I will be waring a T shirt", where a shirt pocket would have been if you had worn a proper shirt. Does that sound reasonable.
Guest Glenn Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I attended NatFly today and caught up with Michael Coates and Airsick. Great day and pretty warm too. Would've liked to have met you other lot but ohh well. Photos to come in a few days, off to Parkes tomorrow for the Aero champs
TAA Qwerty Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I came home last night (Sun) to beat the crook weather forecast for this afternoon in Vic/Bass Strait. As it was the straight was clagged in and I had to go over the top at 6500 for most of the strait. I didnt see much of the comercial displays or the presentations, I was busy adjusting the mixture on my a/c, giving demo flights, picked up a mate from Wagga on Sat and spent some time in the air with a photographer. I was flat out and missed most of the show. It seems that Natfly is a friday affair. Over the last few years that I have been going, the is a significant exodus on Sat am. Last year, a high proportion of the displays were pulled down by the time I got there at 9.00 am on Sat. Next year I am going on thur, walking around on Friday and heading off on Friday after noon. The grass hoppers were a bugger, I still havent got them all off. operation of 09/27 all day was a bugger too. Apart from those minor gripes it was a good weekend. Im sorry that I didnt get to meet any of you guys.
Guest Michael Coates Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Hi Qwerty. i was there from Wednesday to Sunday and Friday AND Saturday are the big days, didnt notice anyone pull down till about 4pm on the Saturday and the only real group of planes i saw leaving were the RV's after their talk finished, ****** long way in a car and didnt see anything other than the pillow and our site but we were very busy, sold 4 planes with contracts signed and deposits paid and overall very happy !
GAJab Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Stuff driving there! We left Melbourne by air taking around 2.3 hours, versus the 7 hour drive, ouch! The trip home, 2.3 hours again with a slight tail wind. Up to 9,500ft at times searching for stronger winds but forced all over the joint due to varying cloud heights.
TAA Qwerty Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Michael Congratulations, what do you sell?? If I had known I'd have made a point of saying gday. GAJab, I'm sorry that I missed you up there, I did keep my eyes open for you. I dropped in to Tooradin to get fuel on the way home only to be told to go somewhere else..... I only needed 30 litres to top up prior to crossing the pond and I was up against last light any way. I ended up at Leongatha where thay helped out. I will be avoiding Tooradin in future after that treatment. Have a go at them for me would you. Cheers Qwerty
