Guest Chainsaw Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Gday and welcome Jim to TAA. Thanks for the heads-up mate. I did wonder if there was a connection, now I know. We would love you to contribute here as your experiences would be of great value to TAA and the wider plane community.
Guest TNUC Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Gday Jim, good to see you here. Havent seen or heard of you for years. Thoght that you would have retired years ago. Good to see that your still going strong ! You are undoubtly one of the great Australian Aviators. Wasnt Hazelton International and its offshoot Australian Air Ferry the companys that your Son Marty co-founded ? Strange accent you've picked up is it Spanish or Portuguese. TNUC
Guest jimhazeltonaviation Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hellow everybody. My son Martin Hazelton was once a shareholder in Hazelton International. Unfortunately, Marty passed away a few years ago. Being myself a "computer Iliterate person" i couldnt use the internet. As all of you know, interner is the way now. The portuguese accent, being myself a "computer iliterate" came from my friend is doing all the computerwork for me. ( he is typing this message) Anyway, i just want people to know that im still on business, and that i ( James Hazelton) dont have any connection, either with Australian Air Ferry, Or Hazelton International. And for thoose who thougth that were dealing with me... sorry to tell you, but somebody lied to you. Regarding my contribution, well i migth compile a tutorial for all of thoose who want to buy a aircraft on the states, so that you dont have to go to any professional company, (and pay the bill). Regards. Jim P.S. before sending my first message, 2 people checked it, nobody picked up a portuguese or spanish accent on it.
winsor68 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Hey Jim... I for one would be very interested in info on importing aircraft from the US. It seems there are a lot of Ra-Aus suitable aircraft as well as GA types available over there.
Guest jimhazeltonaviation Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Well, importing aircraft... there are basically a few steps.... Tomorrow ill post a new topic on the GA section about it. the only things you got to get is: Somebody to inspecth the machine, Somebody to issue a ferry permit to the machine, Somebody to sign the tanking. of the machine, Get all clearances, Organize everything for arrival at lord howe islands(Customs entry point) Engage a workshop to issue a CofA. Anyway, ill write about it tomorrow. regards, Jim
Guest rogermac Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Morning, Jim, You might be able to tell me if a story I was told about 25 yrs. ago is correct. Back then, late 70's-mid 80's, I owned a 1959 Cessna C175, that I kept at Hoxton Park. I was talking to Arthur Schutt, & he told me he had sold C175's a while back & he showed me a short field take-off he used on C175's. He told me he picked up a few dollars from you, by challenging you to get your C180 ag-plane of the ground with a shorter ground run than the C175. He told me he allways won! Is this true?? I used his technique often, usually Saturday at Wedderburn, always people looking on, it worked well. Rogermac
Guest jimhazeltonaviation Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hellow... Yes, its true, it was la little competition going on, once in Bankstown, another in Morrabbin. The 1st one i won, it was in bankstown. On the second one, the Silver Fox outstrategised me by making his takeoff on the taxiway and me with the 180, on the paralell grass. Of course his aeroplane accelerated better on asphalt. Anyway, no money changed hands as we were 1-1. Good story that you pulled out!!!! Regards.
Guest whirlygirl Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Hi Jim Hazelton, haven't seen you since 1970 and we are both still going strong? I have an aviation Book Launch in Sydney at Qantas Heritage Centre, Monday Dec 6th 3-6pm and wondered if you would be interested in attending? Need RSVPs with guests names by Dec 1 please, for catering as the number has reached 100. It is becoming an old-timers' get-together, so will be quite a party, not to miss. Of course you will be expected to buy a book or ten, at $20 each ... Best regards. Rosemary Arnold 0413 832 058
