Zordah Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Hey all, I've recently acquired an interest to learn to fly (yes I'm so new I haven't even piloted anything yet) and found my way to this forum. I'm 42 so probably too old for a commercial licence but interested in flying friends and family around on a private licence. Any tips on some good learn to fly schools in the Brisbane area?
Guest aviatrix27 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Welcome! I'm in Vic so can't recommend any flying schools in your area, but daresay there will be someone who knows.
Guest Darren Masters Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Welcome to TAA Zordah. Never too late to learn to fly. Hope you find the answers you seek here.
Zordah Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 Had my first lesson this morning at Gil Layt's in Archerfield. It was AWESOME! I think I am hooked now...
Guest aviatrix27 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010  I'm guessing the 2nd one is a more accurate picture of you. Well done!
Wingnut Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 G'day Zordah, welcome. Don't forget to take a trip to Darling Downs Soaring Club near Jondaryan, W of Toowoomba. Gliding experience and soaring, weather flying skills will have a positive effect on your power flying skills too - and you never know you might get hooked there too...
Zordah Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 Heh Wingnut, my wife is already complaining about the cost - I don't think I could sneak another addiction in as well
Zordah Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Yes, Steve was the instructor for my first lesson  Great guy, felt very comfortable with him
717dvr Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Steve is a good guy tell him Kelvie says hi next time you see him
Zordah Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Yup, definitely hooked. Up to lesson 5 now and loving it. Can't wait for the weekends to roll around to do another lesson
717dvr Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 does he still fidget all the time, I'm sure he does. Tell him next time I am back his lunch is not safe! He'll know!! Kelvie
Zordah Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Hi Everyone, I'm on my way towards my private license and recently got into learning Wordpress so I thought I would put together a blog on my journey to learn to fly. http://www.learningtoflyinaustralia.com/ Hopefully you don't mind me posting a link to it here but I would like some feedback if anyone is interested. If not, it's OK, I just felt like sharing... So far I'm up to doing circuits so I'm pretty new but enjoying it immensely Still seems like a loooong way to go to get my private license. Peter
