001_smile.gif.2cb759f06c4678ed4757932a99c02fa0.gif, G'day everyone,

I just found this site and being an Aussie I decided to join. It's great to be here. I live in Newcastle not very far (10 minutes drive) from Wallsend airfield. I'm a former RAAF groundie (electrical fitter) and during my time in the RAAF I got my unrestricted private licence. I haven't been able to afford to fly for over 20 years now (training rates are now more than ten times what they were back in 1977 when I started flying) and my salary certainly hasn't increased by ten times. Mogas super was about 15c a litre. These days I have to content myself with taking photos of aircraft and building models (1/72 plastic and resin types). Here are a couple of my 1:1 aircraft photos. This first one is one of the Newcastle Westpac rescue service's BK-117 ltaking off at the helipad at John Hunter Hospital.

Next is a very smokey Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine start taken at festival of Flight at Watts Bridge in 2008 (I didn't make it last year, but God willing I will this time).

Next, a couple of my latest modeling project, An Eduard Aero L-39 Albatros that I intend doing up in Ghanian colours. So far I'm working on the cockpit which is very nice with all its photo etched metal parts.

Cheers,

Ross.

001_smile.gif.2cb759f06c4678ed4757932a99c02fa0.gif Thank you Kaye. I obviously need to learn how to use the photo upload tool here. Any clues would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Ross.

Welcome Ross.

Your method of posting photos like you did above is fine as the forum's software automatically resizes the photos so they don't "stretch" the page. There is another method of using the forum's attachments but it's not as quick as the method you chose nor does it look as good when viewing.

Gday and welcome Ross. Thanks for sharing the photos. The L-39 sounds interesting. Nice plane, they had two flying at Wanaka this year.

001_smile.gif.2cb759f06c4678ed4757932a99c02fa0.gif, G'day Darren and thank you for the welcome. It's good to be here. I've tasted flight both as a passenger and driver (airframe). I wish I could afford to get back into the seat as I miss flying a great deal.

Cheers,

Ross.
