willedoo
A couple of videos from S&S Turbine Services, in Canada. They overhaul industrial turbine engines & work on old F4 Phantom & Starfighter J79 turbojets, converting them to LM1500 turbo-shafts mainly for power generation. They have a lot of Youtube videos which are quite interesting to watch for anyone into these old engines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or6mIaSWZ8g&feature=relmfu

willedoo
Another couple of clips from the same people. A close look at the fan on an old GE CF6-6 engine: Cheers, Willie.
sixtiesrelic
Pity these explanations weren't around when we were learning about the engines in our aeroplanes we were about to fly. we learned the theory and limitations bur I never knew what many of the fiddly bits were when a cowl was open. Yes, he's certainly got a simple & entertaining way of giving a description of the workings. Always amazes me how simple the principle of turbines are, they look fairly tinny inside, but I guess they rely on top quality metal, engineering & tolerances etc. It must be a Canadian thing, I've never noticed much use of industrial turbines here in Australia. Cheers, Willie.
