dazza 38 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 the only way to stop it, is to lift off straight away. As soon as the ground resonance signs begin.
Guest DWB Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 And from an episode of McGuyver years ago
siznaudin Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Couldn't get Spin's link to work for some reason, but found the clip elsewhere. Then went looking under "ground resonance" in Youtube. Lots of entertainment to be found therein (as long as you're not on board!)
Spin Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Entertainment indeed! I now understand why the pilot of a spotting chopper was so insistent I hold and damp the control movement when he had to get out whilst it was running. Muttered something about ground resonance in the tones normally reserved for describing mothers in law. 1
Coop Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Thanks for the links. I've only ever seen the results before, not the actual process... That's one reason I don't like flying in helicopters. They have such imaginative ways of destroying themselves- too many in my opinion. Coop
