Just joined this forum. Look forward to being part of it.

If you're interested in the more popular SA forums, visit www.avcom.co.za - another site but with less aviation content then see www.flyafrica.info.

I'd welcome pointers to other Aus aviation sites.

Take care

G'day Sky, welcome mate, what area of SA are you from, I've got a few mates from Durban and my RAA instructor was from Zimbabwe ( Rhodesia when he migrated)

Cheers Met

Greetings Metalman - I live in an area known as "The Garden Route" located primarily on the 34th parallel between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Great Brak River is the village in which I live. Your mates from Durban would experience a cooler climate in VIC which is somewhat cooler than that to which they're accustomed. Durban and Brisbane have similar weather. Rhodesia - once the bread basket of Africa. Lets not go there. :(

@Peter - pleased you had a visit to the Avcom site. Always good to compare what GA is going on around the World.

Thanks Chris - back home again after having been up in Pretoria for the African Aerospace and Defence Expo.

I too hope to see you all soon. Need to get the planning initiated. As you know - I LOVE Aus!

Hi SkyWe enjoyed an incredible 12-day air safari over there last year. Africa proved memorable in so many ways. There's a gallery of pics and lots of Oz stuff on my website: www.flyingtheoutback.com.au

cheers

Shelley

Great stuff Shelley - You're putting your aviation prowess to good use. I've just returned from an adventure with 14 aircraft from Serengeti. Flew with a Jab 430 from 34ºS to 3ºS, used 18 Litres an hour and did the return trip in 44 Hrs. Flew past Kilimanjaro at FL 115 and saw many animals doing their annual migration.

I know your Safari host Dave van der Spuy as well as Jim Davis very well too.

Take care
