Alan Spears Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I am considering going.....has anyone ever been? If so,what's it like? It's only 3 weeks away.
Head in the clouds Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I've been a few times, in the '80s and then again this decade, and always enjoyed it very much. The whole town is very friendly and supportive. A bit like the old fly-ins used to be, camping under the wing and beers around the camp fire etc. Usually a dinner on the main night and an outdoor movie or other entertainment. They work very hard at putting it on and its been a great shame it's been washed out the last two years (or three?) the local council has been doing their damnedest to sell the airfield off to developers so a show of support from the aviation community to support the proposed airpark is much needed. Evans is a wartime Memorial Airfield and even hosted Lancaster 'G' for George at one stage.
Alan Spears Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 Thanks for that Head in the Clouds....sounds positive. I've decided that I will attend,as a display stall holder. I am bringing my aviation art gallery. I will have 54 original aviation paintings on display. So,everyone attending, make sure you look out for the marquee with the 'Aviation Art' banners and drop by for an aeronautical chat. Browsers very welcome.

Excellent, see you there Alan, looking forward to seeing your artworks too. By the way you really do have a splendid name. Cheers, Alan PS - I'll wear a small name badge saying 'Head in the clouds', any other forumites attending might consider doing similar?
