Kiwi Chick Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 If I get bored I might flick in a quick application.. Wait - 600 hrs single piston time should be enough if you're short staffed, right? :Jumpy: 1
Guest Howard Hughes Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 If anyone wants any information re rosters, lifestyle, etc... I'd be happy to have a chat, PM me if you are interested. Cheers, HH.
ben87r Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 HH, Ive noticed a few advertised jobs lately for RFDS, is it normal? I had always been told that the waiting list was huge to get in
Guest Howard Hughes Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Very normal for the RFDS to advertise from time to time, normally when they run out of suitable applicants.
ben87r Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 What do they class as suitable, I know a few guys that have tried with 1500+ piston multi but I assume that they are after turbine? The guys I knew had mostly instructor time
Guest Howard Hughes Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Turbine is not essential, but it is important to have a lot of good quality night/IF experience. Instructors as a rule tend not to have much night, nor actual 'hands on' IF experience (unless they are from the military). I would recommend the best preparation for a career with the RFDS is night freight type work. Of course this not the only route, as we have had people come from instructing, charter, regional airlines, military and corporate. Where I work we have a contract with the NSW Government which specifies minimum experience, at other bases (and sections) it is possible to get a start with the minimums and in some cases slightly less.
ben87r Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Good to keep in mind, cheers. I would like to either end up in RFDS or corporate myself so nice to know which way to head
