Am reading in the latest ersa, that non VH aircraft must have written permission to access Proserpine airport. Was planning on refueling there, but now ???

What type of fuel are you after? Proserpine only has turbine fuel. Why not go to mackay. Avgas in swipe bowser. Or Shute harbour.

Previously NOT permitted. Now only with prior approval. I elect to overfly with such unfriendly conditions.

YBMK good (but need a PPL - class D)

YSHR - prior permission required - $22 landing fee plus $11 overnight ($5 in ERSA).

Getting a bit unfriendly too?

Yes, but I am "told" that if you buy fuel the landing fee is waived? I haven't tried that so that bit is second hand info.

When I was groundsman at Shute around 15 years ago I used to get my ass kicked for 'forgetting' to charge the landing fee when pilots came in for fuel. Prior permission means they still may want 100hrs minimum as the place can be a handful in winds. Should be a lot better now with the new strip especially in the wet. Good place to stopover for the night. Major now works there so will know all the tricks. Beware Prosvegas, crazy security gun happy nutter works there.
