Guest Andys@coffs Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Have you guys looked at the www.raa.asn.au members portal recently? I noted today when I looked that there are now copies of the quarterly ATSB report of incidences and accidents reported in the broader recreational flying sector and that specific returns from RAAus to CASA and pressumably ATSB asre summarised and reported with other useful info like how are we as a group going when compared to other sectors of our groups. It struck me when looking that there are quite a few incursions into controlled airspace that occur that really shouldn't, and that in some cases when that occurs we create work and costs for other airspace users...... Have a look if you haven't already. it'll be worth the 10 mins or so to review. You can only get it by logging in to the members portal Andy
frank marriott Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 To me it indicates "poor airmanship" being displayed by some of our members (or in some cases maybe lack of knowledge)

I wonder what the action is when this happens, are we being refered back to a CFI to check our education and checking for bad practices in our planning.
sfGnome Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 That was really interesting reading. Thanks for pointing it out, Andy.
facthunter Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I doubt that the average U/L pilot is aware of how seriously the incursions into CTA are viewed by other airspace users, and the authority. This has to be a training issue. Maybe hours of operation etc might be more readily available to pilots . Same for PRD areas..Nev
