Geoff13 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Looks like a few options to choose from, and visits to at least Caboolture, Archerfield and Boonah are in order. Dazza, I would love to have a go in a 610 Brumby - bit of an extra drive but would be worth it I reckon. Yep I would drive out to Boonah to give the Brumby a try. It will be interesting to see what carrying capacity it has. I have it the last week driven to both Caloundra and Gympie to try out the Sportstars, and I must say that I have been impressed with them. Cheers Geoff13
av8vfr Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 From a GA back-ground around YCAB, I can advise the following: go to http://caboolturerecreationalaviation.com.au to fly in Jabs / Foxbat, etc. I did my tailwheel in a cub L4 for my tailwheel endo and awesome training, especially if moving to from GA to RAA go to http://www.goflyaviation.com.au for RAA training... all with Rotax engines and mix of A/C and awesome staff.. best way to complete your RAA certificate... most with colour lcd screens nowadays.. go to http://www.aerodynamic.com.au for GA training.. will take you all the way to ATPL and beyond if your wallet is happy. Again great staff and Brian knows his stuff. Fleet is aging though. Cheers, Matt

Got up to solo standard before I moved interstate. Great school with a very friendly atmosphere.
shags_j Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Hi mate. I have tried all three schools mentioned in these posts... Gofly, Caboolture recreational Aviation, Pathfinder. Caboolture Recreational... Not a big fan of the school or their methods, but that is a personal opinion. Some people find their methods great, just didn't work for me, not to mention I hate flying Jabs. Pathfinder... Great school with great instructors. I hate flying Jabs but they now have some of the Cessna LSA's I believe. They are slightly more expensive than the other two schools but have a PPL conversion course and you get experience in class D. GOFLY is my definite recommendation. Doesn't matter if you have only flown Jabs, Once you fly the Tecnam you will realise how messed up the Jabs really are. The instructors there are also top notch and their prices are fantastic. I can't recommend these guys enough.
gareth lacey Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 pathfinder is where i did the majority of my training, great instructors (DOUG) and and got me through , picked up my weaknesses and they are very easy to deal with, and flying out of Archerfield certainly makes you aware , also tower is very helpful when you do male a mistake
2tonne Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 I see that pathfinder are back operating after the recent storm. Were any of the other schools around Brisbane affected or are they all operating normally? 1
magishme Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hi 2tonne, I did my Pilot Certificate and Cross Country Endorsement with John Walmsley out at Coominya Flight Training. It is around 1 hour or so from Brisbane. I found John to be a great teacher and very generous with his time. If you cancel, no worries he doesn't then sting you for a fee. I cancelled a few times for unforeseen circumstances and his easy going attitude was fantastic. His contact details are 0413 452 547. He has his own 1km strip and it is a great environment to learn in. He is very generous with his time and will sit and chat over a cup of tea for an hours sometimes. Give him a call and tell him David sent you. Regards David 1
