Guest Maj Millard Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Savvy wheels and brakes have always worked for me. They use the same brakes and calipers the the Storch, Tecnam and others use, and the pads just go forever .........................Maj..............
derekliston Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The Matco wheels on my CH701 are two piece, tubeless and were an absolute bugger to stop leaking! I also don't like the disc and pad system, will be a pain for pad replacement compared to Cleveland for example. Shouldn't, hopefully have to replace them too often.
rankamateur Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Mine have tubes, but Reg supplied tubes with right angle valve stems so I didn't have to drill the rim to take the straight stem, that is one of the pains changing to Condors after the originals wear out because the bead is thicker on the Condors and the stem can't come out the drilled hole. The right angle stem just installs in the moulded hole in the centre between the halves.

planedriver Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Wheeling and dealing Eh! Don't worry Nev, what goes around, comes around occasionally, even if its only flat at the bottom:sad angel:
Ultralights Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 now forecast weekend weather, yet more bloody rain...... as for the tyres and tubes, Aerotrainer 6X6.00 on the original ICP wheels, and tubes from a supplier i have found in the UK with bent valves. (ebay) ever since using the tubes from the Uk, and the new tyres, i have had very little issues with wheels. the nose wheel that went flat was the last of the treleborg lawnmower type tyres with the old tubes. though i did get 600 hrs out of it. the tyre that is.

That is a long time to run on a flat, Rob. Reminds me of a Savannah nose wheel at one of the Natflys about four years ago, leaning on the yoke where the bearings were shot, doubt he got another 600 hours out of it.
Guest Maj Millard Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Latest photos of the oil door in service. Although not a substitute for a good top cowl off inspection, it does allow a quick check of oil and coolant levels.............Maj..........
