ayavner Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Hi all, just back from YWOL and ticking off the last 2 hours of solo time for that and the checkride! The prospect of the responsibility is nothing short of awesome.. .having someone other than a pilot in the right seat. I am going to do more PSL and PFL work and circuits still I think before taking that step, but it is nice to have the accomplishment in hand. Thanks Bruce at Fly Illawara!! 7
Piet Fil Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Congrats Ayavner, it's good to see you appreciate the responsibility that comes with the pax endo. It's a great experience to share flying with others, enjoy it well.
ayavner Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Here's the writeup on this one, not too wordy this time, as I am just catching up on blogging the big Navs day! http://morerightrudder.wordpress.com/2013/12/23/passenger-endorsement-done/ go to the home page and scroll down if you want to read the 3 part Navs write up! 2
turboplanner Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Getting better and better - now for a lot more learning. 1
Gnarly Gnu Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Very good read Ayavner & nice photos... a beautiful part of the country too. 1
Phil Perry Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I've got to agree with GG . . .very good read . . . .and I do like your attitude to the serious subject of carrying innocents as well. Phil
Eric McCandless Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 That's great Ayavner, a good write-up and photos. It is a great privilege to carry a passenger but also a great responsibility. I have not yet taken any non-flying passengers because (1) my non-flying friends are suddenly otherwise busy (hmmmn), and (2) I think I need to get more experience anyway so I am in hurry. It is good to take up flying buddies as they are able to offer suggestions (they are not instructors), but is is also embarrising when they pick up your transgressions. Eric
Gnarly Gnu Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Hey Eric my last passenger fell asleep after the first 5 minutes despite some rough thermals and somewhat dodgy landings. Take a five year old!
ayavner Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for reading, guys! I guess I should update it as well, I did a session of precautionary search and landings and low level last week and just yesterday went up for an hour of some pretty hairy crosswind landing practice... bumpy blowy day but so much fun!! Great confidence builder! now to find a 5 year old...
mAgNeToDrOp Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 My missus keeps telling me I act like a 5 year old, does that count ? 1 1
ayavner Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 c'mon over Mag, I am sure we can find a maccas with a playground close to an airstrip!! 1
facthunter Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Better be careful looking for 5 year olds. I can't even take my grandkids anywhere without people looking suspiciously at me. How the world has changed . IF you do take young kids up make sure they don't undo their belt and jump out. It's a possibility they might want to and you are not in a position to do much about it. I wouldn't take young kids unless they are familiar with planes and know you. Nev
ayavner Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 yeah i think we were mostly joking Nev... I am sorta wondering who is going to be first though. Not sure my wife is too keen to be #1 in this case :-D
facthunter Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I'm a bit lucky, there. My wife won't fly with anyone else. She hasn't flown in a U/L though, I would have to do a lot of convincing about how good it was built, and she hates confined spaces, with pipes in front of her...Nev

facthunter Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Plenty of people I know have commented on it. I don't have to bring it up. Older men get a bit of a pasting because of the publicised actions of a few. The comment was meant to be a little TIC. Nev
