Launched from Childers for a 40min run to "1770". Nice morning, the water around 1770 looked fantastic. Dropped into a mates recently completed strip to the SW of "1770".

003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif Hi All,

Back at YRED for more Circuits, today it was a bit of a overcast one, the odd light shower about, today take off was via RWY 25, some more circuit practice with Peter. Again it was all about honing my skills, performed 6 take offs and landings, last circuit was my best according to Pete, bit fast on final approach coming into land, wind had changed and was now behind us giving us extra boot up the bum

Again, Must remember to turn the camera on, 111_oops.gif.41a64bb245dc25cbc7efb50b743e8a29.gif no video again, so much for following my new pre-flight checklist, lol. I had a win today anyway, not only another great flight but that I also sat and passed the Flight Radio Endorsement Exam as well. My Flight Lessons time in the air are now due to go on the decline, Missus also the minister of finance and I heading to NZ in November for a holiday and a catch up with my family

Initially she wanted me to give up all lessons for a short time to help pay for the impending trip, but after some skill-fill negotiations (really a lot of ranting, raving and crying from me and some groveling, lol), I can now still flap my wings at least once a month, not what I really wanted, but a win is a win, for me at least once a month I get to take off and fly around the "Missus Free Zone"

Cheers, Brent

Good to see I'm not the only one who gets ancy when you cannot see or find someone close by who your sharing the airspace with

Ouch Brent! That may seriously affect your progression to RPC. You will be playing serious catch up every lesson with a month in between them. Well, that's how it was with me.Tony

Hi Tony,

Yes you may be right, to date the most time so far between lessons is at 6 weeks, thankfully after a a quick jaunt to YCAB, then couple of circuits my head was back in the game, yes its not the ideal situation I would like to be in, but after talking to Peter at Fly Now, based on my progress and where I am at presently, in Circuits Training, I am hoping the temporary hiatus does not effect my progress too much, 051_crying.gif.fe5d15edcc60afab3cc76b2638e7acf3.gif

I have no problem with doing a bit of flight repetition to get back into it, besides eventually I will get to complete more time in the air to and no one ever said any extra practice is a bad thing as a Pilot, I am a little bit lucky in that I do have a sim at home to practice on, sure, its not as the good as the real thing, but will give me a minor flying fix between lessons for the interim, plus change this allows me to hit the books and do some swotting and get a few more exams out of the way 072_teacher.gif.7912536ad0b89695f6408008328df571.gif

In the long term my wife does support my dream to learn to fly and eventually gain my RPC, and also helps me to fund this journey, so if some small sacrifice's are required on my end to keep her happy, then I am happy, however she has stated that she has no desire to fly with me once I am qualified, "ouch", hopefully she will changer her mind, if not I guess I will certainly enjoy that "Missus Free Zone" 049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif

My Home Sim 080_plane.gif.36548049f8f1bc4c332462aa4f981ffb.gif

I can configure it to utilize a Yoke or Stick Setup, So as I am learning in the Tecnam P92 Eaglet presently, my sim is currently set up for that with a stick, the sim is still a work in progress, I have few more tech items I would like to add / buy for it down the track

Yes, I remember about a year and a half ago I was faced with the question: should I invest a bit and get a really awesome flight sim setup, or should I learn to fly for real? Well I chose the later of course, and never looked back. Today I was on the sim to practice the nav I have tomorrow YBCM-YILW-YSPE-YBCM. I was so frustrated with the lack of landmarks and the unrealistic flying characteristics. But still, I think it got me into the right mindset for the real thing, doing the flight plan, the log, ground speeds, 1 in 60's etc.

Hi All. Fitted in a flight this morning and the weather was good. Finally the rain has stopped and we can get back into or normal winter weather pattern and the farmers can get their sugar cane cut and into the mill. Cheers Mike

Not as nice scenery as yours Mike but 3 aircraft went for a fly today. Caboolture to Nanango to Kingaroy then to Kilcoy then back to YCAB....gorgous day even though the wind was strong above 3000ft but quite smooth. Not sure if these links will work but did some Facebook live while I was flying

We went for a flight up to Double Island Point yesterday to look for whales. Saw quite a few, but for some reason the right wing cam wasn't recording, so missed most of the footage.

On a side note, two wallies decided to have an on-air blue about procedures and regulations at Gympie. They tied up 126.7 (which was already very busy) for quite some time. I suggested they have their discussion on the ground rather than over the radio and all went quiet after that. It was pretty unedifying stuff.

Warwick - Jumpers and Jazz Festival / Flyin Breakfast.

Qld Recrational Aviation Assoc put on a top Flyin Breakfast, attracting some 24 aircraft with most pilots and passengers being transported into Warwick township by the club, for Warwick's yearly Jumpers and Jazz Festival.

With the trees, street poles, signs etc was adorned with jumpers, everyone enjoyed the atmosphere of live Jazz while checking out the many displays and markets before being transported back to their aircraft for the return flight home, in perfect weather.

A great day was had by all, some stayed overnight for dinner at the Historic Samdy Creek Hotel, top food and company.

Big thank you to the QRAA for a well organised event.

As usual the photos say it all.

image.jpeg.3c9a4849c51818a7f31ccc8a29f393b5.jpeg Had a great weekend of flying

Friday afternoon after the base closed went on a jolly to Warragul to spot the bus my mate was on coming from Melbourne to Bairnsdale

Spied Micks bus then promted to tell him I would call him when I got to Bairnsdale to see how far the bus progressed

Well I'm in Bairnsdale overflying and he made it to Moe a mere 20 miles ahead while I covered 80 nm, damn I love flying, I returned to West Sale and had the plane away and was home before his bus came past

Saturday was a solo jolly from West Sale to Yarram in my plane with my mate Doc in his Foxbat, couple of hrs chewing the fat with Jim C from Yarram then Doc headed back to YWSL while I jollied to Bairnsdale then back to YWSL via VFR route 1 to top off another top day

Sunday saw 3 planes depart YWSL for YORB Doc in his FB, Mick L (micks trike) on here and not the Mick from Friday's adventure who was trike pilot and now a recent 3 axis convert in his iS FB and myself in the Tecnam Sierra (or as Doc calls it "the spitfire")

Awesome flight up to Marlo was had in beautiful conditions and after landing we then indulged in to some Queens sandwiches as Doc calls them (cucumber)

Doc has raved so many times to me about cucumber sandwiches in the past so I thought I would surprise him and bring some just baked bread, some butter and a couple of Lebanese cucumbers along with some tea bags and milk

I must say they ain't bad if I say so myself and can see why he likes them

Anyways a great day was had and a great flight between 3 good mates

Few photos of Sunday

Well my last flight came completely by surprise and was courtesy of a very nice bloke namely Zodiac from this forum! Zodiac and I met for the first time in person as we jumped in the cockpit!

I received a call Saturday morning saying I'm going flying and I have a spare seat would you like to come! Of course I did and we had a really nice fly from Jandakot up the coast to Hillarys and back to Jandakot via Powerhouse.

Was a beautiful morning of flying with some great views...was good to have some time to take a look out the window for once and not have to focus too much on aviation I must say!

Thanks Zodiac!

About 4 1/2hrs of airtime today, flew with Doc from West Sale to Tyabb in his Foxbat to get the prop adjusted by Peter Harlow.

Slow trip down as we were punching into a decent 25 to 30 kts headwind, 1.5 hrs down with a GS of around 63 kts for the 82 nm trip,

Prop was done then a test fly with Peter & Doc for about 1/2 hr saw good results.

Trip home was much quicker with almost double the GS we had on the way down, saw 120+ kts at times and a flight time of just 45 mins.

Packed Foxy away and then Doc dropped me off home, so what did I do you may ask? just jumped in my car and headed back out to the airport to fly my plane.

Headed up to Bairnsdale and conducted 3 x touch n goes then tracked back to WSL to meet up with a young RAA pilot who wanted to have a look at my plane.

Young Matt was suitably impressed and decided to come for a fly in the jet as he called it, bit of time flying around Sale township and a couple of T & G's saw the day come to the end with around 4 1/2 hrs of looking down on this beautiful earth of ours.

So what is on the agenda for tomorrow you may ask?

Well thinking a nice little trip up to Marlo and back is in order with 4 or 5 other planes tagging along

LTD, Living The Dream I call it

cheers

Alf

Yippy !!!! Finally got to do my second solo. 3 touch & goes and a very dodgy full stop 103_score_001.gif.0354254b719c2e1032fedf21c3779e8a.gif. It's been a long time coming as Sydney Jabiru flight school closed down just after I did my first solo, had to swap schools and get use to a new aircraft, was flying the Tecnam Golf now in a Foxbat. No nerves like my first solo, but didn't enjoy it as much this time, Don't know why, Maybe the pressure of getting the touch and goes right maybe still not quite comfortable in the foxbat like the tecnam, Also just seemed to be more work load this time ???? Anyway Made it down in one piece HAPPY DAYS 011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif011_clap.gif.8adfe837b4189ee6622bf4917d6a88c0.gif011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif026_cheers.gif.2a721e51b64009ae39ad1a09d8bf764e.gif

Hey Rick, I know what it's like to change flying schools and planes, it delays the process significantly, doesn't it? But look on the bright bright side, it makes you a better pilot!Tony
