Tell us about your last flight

That last landing was particularly sweet but tell me, where the hell do you go in a EFATO in either direction? Not a lot of options I think.

I asked the same question to my instructor when I was learning at Redcliffe last year. He basically said what you said, not a lot of options, land it on top of the mangroves at the lowest possible speed, and hope for the best!

Out flying in the Brumby with a friend on a nice July morning enroute Munglinup to Myrup (YMYU).

Actually we were running ahead of an approaching cold front about 10mn behind!

The other day was my last hour I needed to meet the requirements for my flight test! Flew out into the training area south of Jandakot, did some steep turns, stalls, practice engine out, precautionary landing field inspection, then back home again. Got beat around on the way back but it's all part of the fun right? :) hoping to get my flight test done as soon as the weather clears

Yesterday I did a little nav out of the local area. This was the 1st since I got my XC endorsement. YBCM to YCAB and back. The trip is usually a 72nm round trip, but we took a more scenic route 96nm through Toogoolawah and Kilcoy, back over Somerset Dam. Took a mate and visited family at Caboolture. When at Caboolture, I took my nephew for a circuit around Caboolture. It was a great day to be flying, we had fantastic conditions.

I was pleasantly surprised on my flight test. My CFI took me out on what I thought was just another lesson, did some more emergency procedures, wing drops, circuit entries and exits, and a few other things. We returned and he started filling out the usual paperwork, but one new sheet which I read from the other side of the table was labeled "Flight Test for the Issue of Pilot Certificate". After completing and signing it, he reached over, shook my hand and said, "Congratulations Captain!" I think I would have been as nervous as a cat if he had told me at the start of the flight that I was doing the flight test.037_yikes.gif.f44636559f7f2c4c52637b7ff2322907.gif

You don't want to build up a negative mental block. Yes you have to use your feet and if you are not used to that you are going to have to get used to it. I little bit of rudder early is better than a lot later, but don't make it harder than it is. Nev

After our Lightning Ridge visit, we headed down to Cessnock to have the first 100 hourly done on our plane. That means we've clocked up 100 hours in less than 12 months!

Another great video from you guys Scott, really do enjoy seeing your videos

Glad to see that you belted up for your second flight young lady. Great video guys.

Exactly! I only noticed that this morning myself. A failure on my part as well ... "Hatches and harnesses ..."

Thanks for the compliments...

A trip last week into a mountain strip about 100nm from home. Strip is at about 4000ft AMSL. Rough, soft and narrow. Not as long as it seems as the gradients and slope vary considerably over the length and it's kind of a matter of picking what piece you are going to use. Mate took his Avid in too. Have been one or two aircraft come to grief there over the years which is not surprising, the last a C185 overturned landing while there was snow on the strip.

Nice walk to the hut 500m away, couple of hunters there who got there via MD500.

Fitted in a flight today in the trusty Skyranger Nynja after a completing some tidy up jobs. Flew up the coast between Mackay to Lakeside Air Park and back to Marian via the irrigation dam. Nice weather all the way. Some images follow.

Something different today, hitched a ride back from Maryborough in the Seamax. Weather was perfect so lots of splash & goes along the way. Great fun!!!

The SeaMax will soon be on line with ProSky Maryborough for water training & endorsements. The Sandy Straights between Maryborough & Fraser Island are an ideal place to enjoy this type of flying.
