Nightmare Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 After a 4 month absence away from flying, due to me breaking my arm at work, I dusted off my faithful Jabiru and took her for a short flight over to Watts Bridge and back on the pretext of getting some fuel. What a great feeling getting back in the air. No pics unfortunately, I was busy getting back into the swing of things. 4

Nightmare Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Great stuff Nightmare getting back in to itMust have been a nightmare breaking your arm and not being able to fly Tell me about it! A good friend did the next best thing for me, he flew my plane and I rode as PAX a few weeks ago, that somewhat satisfied the flying bug during that time 2
ClintonB Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Finally a break in the wind if not the heat, I got to go for a fly in C182. I took my son for a ride to the coast with intention of landing at Old Bar for a dip in the ocean. Crosswind was more than I was comfortable with, so a quick diversion to Taree to visit some friends instead. Still a great day. Back in YSTW the tar was melting in Front of the hanger. 1 1
waraton Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 For Australia day today I had breakfast in Jindabyne, and made it home to Broken Hill for lunch. The Snowy Mountains with some early morning fog was very spectacular. On past the irrigated fruit blocks along the Murrumbidgee river. Then the familiar view of seemingly endless landscapes heading for home before the summer thermals really kick in. Pretty awesome Australia Day activity in my book. Hope you enjoyed your day. 9 1
waraton Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 With temps in the low 30s last night it was still pretty warm at dawn for an early morning flight this morning. Going to be another hot one today. Ready for preflight. The Silvertown wind farm under construction. These turbines are the largest so far in Australia. More than 50 of them going in. The Mundi Mundi plain. From the lookout near Silverton you can see the curvature of the earth, not a bad view from the Jab either. Silverton looking north. Broken Hill with the Line of Load ore body and mines running through the middle of the city. Umberumberka Range with the long closed Silverton Tramway line heading off in the distance to Cockburn in S.A. Anyway that was my last flight. 8

waraton Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Sunrise and another early start. The village of Cockburn population 25) on the NSW SA border looking West with the Railway (left) and the Barrier Highway (right) converging with a light show not done justice by my phone camera. 3
red750 Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Looks like SpaceX Heavy being readied for launch.
Nightmare Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Last Sunday I took a little flight to Caboolture (Qld) to see David (DGL Fox) and friends. It was a ridiculously hot day. 3
snarf007 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I managed to go for my first “100$ Hamburger” on Saturday. Hired ProSky Maryborough’s Tecnam Sierra and went for lunch at the Lagoons 1770 Resort and Spa in Agnes Waters. Could not have asked for better flying weather and lunch. The Resort and restaurant is a 5min walk from YAWT and the caretaker was kind enough to give me a lift there. 5 1 1

The Resort and restaurant is a 5min walk from YAWT and the caretaker was kind enough to give me a lift there. If you had waited until Sunday there were 23 aircraft flew in to Agnes Waters and over 40 aviation enthusiasts for a very social lunch at the resort. It was a bit breezy but very managable. The meal was excellent too. 1 1
snarf007 Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Russell told me about the fly-in on Sunday, unfortunately I only had Saturday free. I booked your Sportstar, but it had battery issues and thankfully Russell’s Tecnam was available. When I visited the wind was about 5 to 10kts from the ESE and I landed on 14. For the flight back I took one look at the high ground to the south, the trees and the posibility of rotors scared me and I took off from 32. Frans 1
Denny Fiedler Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Living the dream in OZ. End of another lesson with Craig. Some comments added for a mate who is a pilot. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10213357580768482
djpacro Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Living the dream in OZ. I approach at 85 kts. Didn’t get to fly as I got a flat tyre at the holding point.
Denny Fiedler Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I approach at 85 kts. Didn’t get to fly as I got a flat tyre at the holding point. I'm supposed to approach at 85 kts but the instructor doesn't mind if I'm a little fast on late final because the speed bleeds off so fast once you reduce power right over the fence. If we land on the shorter grass runway I'll stick to the numbers as good as I can but I'm still not really confident landing on the shorter runway. 2

Good plan. The 3 blade Hartzell “Claw” is even worse. See you at an aerobatic contest sometime?
Denny Fiedler Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Good plan. The 3 blade Hartzell “Claw” is even worse. See you at an aerobatic contest sometime? Very unlikely, I suck at precise flying and I get confused quickly during aerobatics, trying to string together a sequence is a nightmare
Graham Pukallus Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Introducing flying to others is always a pleasure.
Blueadventures Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Had a flight in nice flying conditions before work. Would have liked it to be a day off and go further. The local area to the west of Palmyra Airfield, Mackay. The small town in the last image is Eton.
BlurE Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Shocked to see so much green! I know it makes sense, but it's just been so long since we've seen that colour in Victoria.
derekliston Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Went up just for a circuit this morning. Weird, couldn't get the bloody thing to come down. Windsocks were hanging totally limp, should have paid attention to my Skyview and changed runways. The screenshot was on downwind for 27, looked like a 10 kt headwind, hence my 45 kt final was actually 55 kt ground speed, at least that is my excuse for the crappiest landing I've done in weeks! Think my computer must be stuffed, still can't post screenshot. Go to pictures/screenshots to attach file and it says "this folder is empty' however if I get out of this and go to pictures on the desktop there are three screenshots in the file!!!! I hate bloody computers.
Admin Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 The screen shots are probably in a different file format than what can be attached to a post. The file types that can be attached are zip txt pdf png jpg jpeg gif jpe doc docx kmz kml xls xlsx ppt pptx wav
BusaKaine Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 A beautiful day today in SEQ, after last weekends flight review in such crap weather it was a welcome change. Getting used to the radio calls for the controlled aerodrome. A few more flights and I will be continuing on my PPL next month.
