Flightrite Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Went for a drive over a recreational lake in central Vic yesterday, so many hoons on jet skies and stink boats I felt sorry for the fisher-persons (gotta be politically correct in this weak society!) who were battling constant swells! Hoons are prevalent in every form of transport! 1

Yeah ... ya gotta miss the virile societies of our forefathers, where women (and other out-groups) knew their place, and nary a hoon would be found (alive). Cue Tucker larf: 3

Tyabb around the bay via coastal route, down to Geelong then back up the coast via Phillip island to French island for a visit with Nic to see the Rans S21 build then back to Tyabb. Combined with building aircraft in the morning it was a big day out. That looks like a nice flight Mike. Happy new year. 1

kiwiaviator Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 A recent trip in the J230 over the central North Island, NZ volcanoes. One of them looks flat enough to land on! 13 1 1
Carbon Canary Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Climbed up to the crater lake on Ruapehu back in the mid ‘90s…..and it erupted not long after. Tongariro NP is simply spectacular. Great pics and it looked like a magical day. Well done ! 3
SGM Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Trip report : Barnbougle Dunes. Where? It's on the north east coast of Tasmania, near Bridport, and if you are coming from the mainland, it's not too far beyond Flinders Island. What's to like : Private airstrip right next to the beach (cross wind join show in video attached) Accomodation is good, you can a book room for a single night, and their courtesy bus picks you up to save you walking the 2km to the Lost Farm reception. Refer https://barnbougle.com.au/ . We paid $260 for one night with an ocean view and were picked up by friendly Scotty. It has a sportsbar, bistro and restaurant. We went to the restaurant which was good, mostly for the ocean views. (Photo with wine glasses below) If you want to go into Bridport (nearest town) there is a private operator who can do this. Adrian is THE man, super friendly, and he was happy to help me fill my Rotax with U95 from the Bridport servo. Contact him here https://www.tassiett.com.au/ . He also runs other tours eg winery's etc. The golf course looks amazing, and the beach is quiet and people-free (photo of beach below) What's not to like : Weather can be a bit fickle crossing Bass Strait. ATC and skeds where helpful as always. I enjoyed the 30kt tailwind home today. Runway gets plenty of use (up to 13 planes have been there in one day apparently) and it's very long, but quite gravelly so I was super careful about runups etc. Reception will send you a PDF of the airstrip - 24 and 06 Bridport is a small town, with not much and it's too far to walk Lost Farm Restaurant food is ok but not remarkable BTW on the way home my wife spotted Mount Chappel Island (pic below) and said "let's land there and expore". We didn't..has anyone? Google seems to indicate it's home to giant tiger snakes which has now put her off ; ) IMG_1969.mp4 10 1
Bernie Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Wife and I have visited Bridport on three occasions whilst motorhomeing in Tasmania. Needless to say we like the place.🤗 Bernie.

planedriver Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Looks wonderful! Makes some of us a tad envious. Glad the new legs seem to be proving an improvement. Maybe that's what I need? 1
Mike Gearon Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Landing today with Cape Barren Geese avoidance. I turn the motor off if too close. In this case we all worked it out with course adjustments. 4
Old Koreelah Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Mike did you blow the horn to scare away those plurry big projectiles? I fitted a small plastic boat’s horn, weighs three fifths of bugger all and is loud enough to scare birds. 2

RossK Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Flew out to Rawnsley Park Station at Wilpena Pound for the weekend. Refueled at Renmark on the way there and back. Short final for 07 at Renmark Then on to the Flinders Ranges Had to do the obligatory climb of Rawnsley Bluff, 2000ft up this track! Left Monday morning with a lap around Wilpena Pound for some nice photos 6hrs each way roughly. Rawnsley Park Station was great. The accomodation is very good. They picked us up from the aerodrome, took me to the general store to fill up my fuel bags (98 Premium), then back to the airport to refuel, and then back to the room. Picked us up Monday morning and dropped us off and waved goodbye. Very welcoming to visiting pilots. I can highly recommend them, a great place to stop for a few days. 8
Garfly Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 "Had to do the obligatory climb of Rawnsley Bluff, 2000ft up this track!" Of course! After all, they say the view from up there is amazing! ;- )) 1 1
facthunter Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 You've already had better views from your plane all the way to getting there. Nev 1 1
