My wife finally agreed to go flying with me yesterday! I originally planned to take someone else up, but when he cancelled, I asked her. It was so good to finally share the passion of flight with her, I had passed my PAX Endorsement in Feb this year. She had a ball, She was so fascinated with the sights. I'm thinking she'll be flying with me more often from now on!

Another dual nav.

Tunbridge to St Helens. The Fingal Valley is very pretty from 3500 feet!

No picture of that because I was busy flying and navigating. At the same time even!

The picture is heading south from YSTH after our departure and on the way home via Swansea.

Watts Bridge Poker Run photos, Very well supported by at least 25 planes. Big thanks go to Richard Faint and his many helpers. Perfect flying conditions, and a great adventure when flying into Kilcoy, Mc Carrons strip, Bradfields and Watts today.

Great video Mike...would have been a top day to go flying. You should put piece of string on your canopy direct in front . They have it on gliders its so much better than the ball. You have no propwash so its perfect

002_wave.gif.62d5c7a07e46b2ae47f4cd2e61a0c301.gif Hi All,

After 6 weeks of no flying due to weather cancellations, some unexpected bills and the missus spending all my flying money, not quite true, she spent some of it, lol. Back at YRED for more Circuits, after a catch up with Peter, my instructor, he informs me its getting near time to start completing a couple of exams before my first solo, the Pre-Solo Air Legislation and the Flight Radio Endorsement Exams, I promptly informed Peter I had just done a quick review test for the pre-solo a couple of days ago, but have not studied for the radio exam as yet, so he said, right you can do the pre-solo exam now and sends me off with my exam paperwork up to the training room to complete, in hindsight I should have kept my trap shut, lol, after completing the exam, I was feeling a little green, thinking I am sure I had muffed it.

Now sitting with Peter, we are reviewing my exam answers, got a couple wrong but Peter informs me that I have passed the Pre-Solo Air Legislation Exam, "Woohooooo" so with some colour back in me, off I went to do the pre-flight aircraft inspection on the Tecnam, today I am flying in the newer Tecnam, 24-7440, my first time in this bird, a while ago I brought a eBay Bargain bulk buy Dash Cam Camera and was anxious to try it out today, after asking permission from Peter, I mounted it in the plane and got on with all the aircraft inspection, once all the checks were completed, Peter and I were on our way, taxiing for a RWY 07 departure. As I had not been flying a while Peter decided that we would head over to YCAB first and complete a touch & go there and than back to YRED for some more Circuit Practice

Another beautiful day for flying, heading out to Cabo0lture first was the best idea yet, managed to shake off some cobwebs and get my mindset back into being a pilot again, first time landing at YCAB, my first grass land / take off, we headed back to Redcliffe for some circuits, YRED was quite busy today with Heli Training and the Aero Club Pilots completing some training as well, I have still a bit more work to do on my circuits, overall my take offs, crosswind and downwind legs are coming along well, just more practice and some finessing on the final approaches, my foot / rudder work is getting a little better and even managed to land on the center line a couple of times, after being out of it for so long I was happy with my effort today and Peter was as well. Now back to that new eBay bargain brought, I now need to include one more step into my Aircraft Pre Start Procedures

Must Remember to turn the Camera "ON" bugger me, 051_crying.gif.fe5d15edcc60afab3cc76b2638e7acf3.gif no video today, Now off to do some swotting for my Flight Radio Endorsement.

Cheers, Brent 003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif

Your not on your lonesome there Brent...we all have done it ...but the frustrating part is we continue to forget to turn it on...maybe thats a good thing though. It means your concentrating on what you have to do correctly to start, taxi and takeoff and land of course. Unless you make the camera part of your checklist you will keep forgetting about it...just like the rest of us

Great Vid Mike! It was great to see some of the lesser known airstrips in the area. It would've been a great day of flying. You've got me thinking of another plane option to purchase.I flew my 2nd nav yesterday, YBCM-YGYM-YCDR-YBCM great conditions.

Dave:

I won in 2014...has it been that long?? Anyway, I forget who won it this year. I think it might be Roger ??? (Can't remember his last name. Anyway it was an exceptional flying day with severe clear conditions and light winds. Many thanks also to the ladies of BVSAC for their efforts putting on the food.

Also, we had a new attendee, as in new back to flying in SE Qld...welcome Dr Nic....

Doesn't anyone fly any more? Go on, tell us about your last flight...even if it is only circuits...let's get some threads and posts started about our last flight, what did you do, what did you see, what was it like...tell us all so we can envy even just a minute in the air...............

Thought that I would share our last flight/adventure which would be the longest I/We have completed.

On Saturday 30th April 2016 my wife Robyn and I departed Caboolture for Western Australia with 12 other aircraft returning on the 17th May 2016.

Some Basic statistics:

Our Aircraft is a Tecnam Sierra with a new Rotax 912 ULS that had 25 hours on the clock when we departed.

We covered 5,000 nm completing 56 flying hours.

I put together a video and posted it on YouTube of the landings. It is not one of those fancy production, no music, just the landings at all of the various airports we landed at.

If you do look at it, it may be best to get a cup of coffee as it is approximately 55 minutes long.

Also attached is an Australian Map showing our track.

Our great country is the reason why we fly !!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you enjoy

Great video Doug, what a wonderful trip, when you look at the video you realize how big our country is, what was your average cruise speed in the Tecnam?

Just got as far as Giles, Doug. Enjoying my trip, but probably not as much as you did!

Thanks for your reply and yes we passed abeam Giles on our leg from Ayers Rock to Warburton doing the IFR (I follow roads) thing, fantastic country.

Flying in-company for me makes a trip like this that much more enjoyable, we enjoy the camaraderie at night time as well having others to consult with on weather and track as was the case from Warburton. We were to track to Meekatharra via Carnegie but we had to divert to Laverton and Leonora because of weather coming through from the west.

Anyway enough of our trip, where to from Giles for you?

Thanks for your reply David, didn't try to calculate an average speed but my flight planning speed is 105 kts.

On most of the legs to the West we rarely got above that probably averaging 95 - 100 kts, but on the legs to the East we often did with the fastest ground speed registered being 142 kts on our leg from Albany to Esperance.

...back from dreamland to work on my plane; so I can once again fly off on my own adventures. Winter is my favourite time for trips away. Less turbulence, nicer days.

Today I had time and the weather was clear so flew the Nynja from Marian to Lakeside Airpark. Great conditions and a slightly bumpy west south westerly down low. At Lakeside a mate Warren and David were doing some aircraft maintenance and put a cuppa on. All in all a great morning for a fly and catchup with some great people. Hopeing for similar weather tomorrow and over the weekend. Attached are some shots of the local farming and coast line area. Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, the grass looks a lot greener than what it was when we flew into Marian. We were a group of 6 planes and parked our aircraft there on the 18th & 19th August last year.

We flew down from Shute Harbour and I for one had trouble locating the airfield until I heard and saw one of our other aircraft call downwind, so I was able to follow him in.

Great photos, in fact, the whole area looks fantastic. Cheers Doug
