Yeah mate, a late change of heart . It's not often you can fly over the top of East Sale without getting shot down, so ( me and the gal ) thought that was a nice option, and being a Sunday, there should at least be some activity at Yarram , which there was. Marlo is still a favourite though, and you are usually guaranteed to get some degree of cross wind practice there..... Bob 026_cheers.gif.2a721e51b64009ae39ad1a09d8bf764e.gif

Yesterday - I flew part of the Great Ocean Road and watched thousands of cyclist riding the Cadel Evans bike ride. It was amazing to see the rainbow coloured clothing of cyclists. Like a rainbow winding along the coast.

Four helicopter following the race kept me on my toes. :rotary::rotary::rotary::rotary:

The Great Ocean Road is a must do. Base yourself at YLED Lethbridge that now has Mogas, Avgas and Jet A1 in large 40,000 litre tanks.

I've been sweating my butt off all week in the hangar doing some maintenance on the Sportstar so after lunch today it was great to sneak in an hour long "post maintenance check flight" along the coast near Bundy. Picture below is of Elliott Heads, always spectacular from the air and as it's only 10 minutes from home, it's also a nice place for a swim.

002_wave.gif.62d5c7a07e46b2ae47f4cd2e61a0c301.gif Hi All,

Back at Redcliffe (YRED) yesterday for another lesson in 7440, it was another stinker, heat wise, Pete felt it was prudent to revisit doing Strip Runs, which was good for me as my rudder foot work does need some finessing, the Strip Runs started off a bit sloppy, but after some words of wisdom and the proverbial clip around the ears from Peter, the runs got better, below is video of some of my attempts,

On the third run in the video, I had audience of pilots and their aircraft waiting to take off, thankfully I didn't embarrass myself and Pete to much Still need more practice but after a debrief with Pete, we have thrash out a couple ideas that will hopefully help me improve, so now cannot wait til my next lesson to give it a go, again another great lesson from Pete, learned some new tips, had a laugh or two, still walking away from each lesson with the biggest grin on my dial!

Nice! Can't wait to fly in Australia. Here is a fresh report from a subzero territory. A seaplane base in New Hampshire converted to an ice runway. Brrrr! 014_spot_on.gif.1f3bdf64e5eb969e67a583c9d350cd1f.gif

Jeez, how do you stop on such a slippery surface? It's difficult enough to walk on let alone operate an a/c, well done.037_yikes.gif.f44636559f7f2c4c52637b7ff2322907.gif

More to the point how do you take off if your wheels can't get traction!059_whistling.gif.a3aa33bf4e30705b1ad8038eaab5a8f6.gif

I still remember the look on my Mother in Laws face the first time she saw the bushweels on my plane, it took a fair bit of explaining to get across the fact that the engine doesn't drive the wheels:doh:

I didn't fly today. Spent couple hours at 30 kts winds scraping the ice off the wings and shoveling.

Murgon Breakfast was a big success with 25 planes attending and checked out the big improvements throughout the club facilities. We flew over to Wondai for an organised meet and greet with the local flyers who made us very welcome. The local business owner, of the Colonial Motel drove out to meet us and discussed what Wondai has to offer visitors and assured us they will provide transport to all pilots to and from the airport.

The Colonial Motel is the preferred Motel by local flying schools and aero clubs.

Wondai will be on the future suggested Flyaway Breakie and picnic destination list.

002_wave.gif.62d5c7a07e46b2ae47f4cd2e61a0c301.gif Hi All,

Notched up another Lesson on Friday in 7440, it was another hot day but, change of scenery this week, Pete and I headed over to Caboolture (YCAB) for some Circuits and Grass Landings practice, A great flight over and back, started off a bit sloppy, but the rudder work is getting better, more finessing needed still, which will come with practice, but the lesson was a hoot otherwise,

"Still walking away from each lesson with the biggest smile on my dial"

Don't know if it's a feature of the VIRB, but I find the frequent wipe scene changes TOO frequent and distracting. Five seconds is too short.

Watts Bridge Breakfast this morning was another great success, with a good roll up in picture perfect conditions.

Big thanks to the many people who made us all a hearty Breakfast.
