A cold winters day flying in central Victoria

Flew from Camden to Wagga and back yesterday to visit my son - bit cold early morning hand starting the Auster minus 2 degrees. Well worth it though as the conditions were fantastic - almost no bumps and crystal clear

Last weekend my wife and I flew over to Wildman River resort for lunch. There was a young Cessna driver just getting ready to leave back to Darwin and pick up some tourists when we pulled in. She came over to us to ask about the Rebel and kindly said she'd much rather be herding it than the 172.

A tasty lunch and a quick flight over the Kakadu wetlands. That afternoon was back home plastering the kitchen.

There used to be two hangared at The Oaks, I assumed (wrongly) that one of them was yours.

No, one of those is currently for sale as a project and the other is in bits. They are both still at The Oaks.

002_wave.gif.62d5c7a07e46b2ae47f4cd2e61a0c301.gif Hi All,

After a 4 week absence from flying due to work, I was back at YRED for another lesson with Peter, today we took up 7440 for some more circuit work, we headed over to YCAB for a few then back to YRED for some more, Weather was a corker today, traffic was a bit busy at both airports but I managed to polish off some good circuits, below is a small tidbit of my lesson

Cheers, Brent 003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif

It's different to see the wind favouring runway 30 at YCAB, the wind always seems to favour RWY12 when ever I'm going there. And yet it was favouring RWY07 just a few miles SE at YRED. Strange conditions in that area...

Yes, agree, it was my first time using RWY 30, we did get blown about a little bit at Caboolture but when we got back to Redcliffe, the air was so still, perfect for some circuit work 014_spot_on.gif.1f3bdf64e5eb969e67a583c9d350cd1f.gif

Had a great flight yesterday at Boonah, 1 hour of circuit engine failure emergencies, Climb out, turn onto downwind, mid downwind, wheels 5 feet off runway on takeoff, Then electrical failure(nil flaps/trim) then circuit with the ASI covered. Good workout and managed to get the Golf back on the runway everytime without cheating(Power).

Went down to Transaero at YMBU yesterday to sort out a Leakey exhaust valve. Cylinder came off, valve re-faced and seat cut. Also re-shaped TW Spring which I hope will stop it shimmying on bitumen.

Stayed the night at the Motel/caravan park and had seafood platter at the Golf Club.

Re-assembled engine this morning and back home this arvo. Pretty wild departing YMBU with 25 KN from the ENE over the hill and trees. Came back at 1500' all the way because of 30-40 KN head wind and a lot of turbulence. Avoided the hills by heading north up to Raywood then east to Elmore and Shepparton.

The ATIS said 17 KN 040 G 26 so a very interesting landing on the forgiving gravel on RWY 09 rather than risking the unforgiving bitumen on 36. Touchdown after a very bumpy approach at around 20 KN in tricky gusts but bugger all landing roll.

Very glad to be home but discovered bored dog had demolished the last of the cushions from the outdoor furniture and pulled some washing off the line!

Great effort Marty

Good to see you back in the air again and handling those issues with ease and confidence

Wellcamp international Airport Flyin, organised again by the Clifton Lone Eagle Flying Club proved to be a great event today. Perfect weather combined with a very welcoming active club set the stage for a great adventure flight from Clifton to Wellcamp Airport, just west of Toowoomba. With a very professional approach to this event ensured everyone had a great and safe flight, starting with a comprehensive briefing by Trevor Bange and Kevin. We all set off in our allocated time slots and arrived at Wellcamp Airport. The safety Officers offered a great radio service with incoming traffic and taxiing assistance to our allocated parking spots. We were all escorted to the Airport lounge where a huge lunch was waiting for us all and were then officially welcomed by the Airport Manager and staff. A huge thank you, must go to the Clifton Lone Eagle Flying Club for the massive and ever changing organisation of this event due to recent security upgrades this week throughout Australian Airports. See you again at your next Wellcamp Airport Event.

As usual the photos say it all.

So today I got to take my wife whale watching, must have been 10-12 different pairs of whales inside Moreton Bay, with another 8 near Flinders Reef.

My wife was super excited and of course being able to fly down the East side of the Island was amazing.

A little fun in New York Bay. Tomorrow we will be grounded for 17 days. Presidential TFR and my airport is in no-fly zone.

In the first pic, if you look closely, you can see EAA Airventure out the front windows.

It was a birthday present from my wife.

Nine aircraft from Shepparton and Echuca travelled to Warracknabeal today for Lunch with the club there and a tour of the silo art at Brim and Sheep Hills.

These silos are around 35 metres high and the detail included by the artists is quite phenomenal.

Thank you Warracknabeal AC for great hospitality and a culture fix!

Bored dog pulled the washing off the line and broke the line. Pegs everywhere! Not particularly pleased.
