Reflections on perspex not making pics look good. Colours are far more vibrant.

A cove west of Faraway Bay.

A beach with a small river leading to a pool surrounded by cliffs.........

Just awsome!

Navy ship in Koolama bay....Which leads into King George River and King George falls (now dry)

Cat moored near falls. 26/06/20

I made a second pass over the Navy patrol boat at about 1000 for a wave......

Two "fast boats" were setting off somewhere....maybe to the Cat...?20200626_103236.thumb.jpg.778d83aa9d7cd6eb031b79d1c55edc7a.jpg

Nice little beach in Koolama Bay.

There's virtually hundreds of these little beaches all along the coast....

That's a far better view than the one you get from the Bastion (Five Rivers Lookout)! - although the lookout view is still quite impressive!

You wouldn't want to do an emergency landing on those mudflats, the crocs just at the jetties in Wyndham are MASSIVE!! - and they'd be homing in on you, quick-smart, on those mudflats!

I did call into Wyndam airport for a break.....

In some ways I wanted to see a croc, and in some ways I did NOT want to see one...... :dizzy:

In the end I didn't see one....

Lake Argyle and the Ord River Dam.

Statistically and visually very low in level especially at the south end (not pictured) with large dry mud flats.

Had the privilege (twice) of flying in wealthy terrorists to Purnulula national park in the 90's, 'clamping' was the new tag for fancy camping? Amazing getting a personel tour thru off limits areas by an Abo guide?

The convergence of the Ord (bottom left) and Bow rivers at the southern end of Lake argyle.

The old Bow River mine, now abandoned and somewhat rehabilitated centre top for those Cold Chisel fans...

Some really great photos here. Beautiful scenery and very inhospitable country. Not a place to have an engine out occurrence.

Extremely envious, I one day hope to have a chance to aero tour. The trip looks awesome.

I got to most places I wanted to go to.

Missed out on Kalumburu, Drysdale station and Mitchell falls due to virus isolation and/or not open for business (not enough customers to make it viable).

All good things come to an end. It's been a great 2 weeks but as I can't travel interstate yet ( I might be able to get OUT of WA but may not be able to get back IN!). With some work and an annual coming up, I'll head home.

I may have another crack later this year if circumstances are better.

Perhaps a dash to Tassie or over to SA and up the centre into the NT..........

I would encourage everyone with an aircraft to give it a go.

Start small with some overnighters, and go from there as you build experience.

After a few weeks only flying the beautiful RV I got back in the thruster today, what joy to fly low and slow. I think Thrusters , Drifter types are very much under rated. Best bang for buck out there.

Had a short run from Somerton to Baraba today, took a NZ farmhand for his first light plane ride.

I aborted my first take off when I wasn’t accelerating enough, first time doing it for real and didn’t stuff it up, I was just off the ground and not gaining speed. I know what my error was, a little too keen to get airborne with back pressure. My passenger took it well and didn’t ask to hop out. I went back uphill to the start, held the brakes a bit longer and was correctly airborne in half the distance.

the rest of the flight went excellent. Nice walk into Baraba for a coffee, then a run around the mural on the silos, Manila at 1000 feet agl over Lake Keepit from one end to the other at around 700 agl and onto the farm strip.

a great day and a new friend made.

Had nice conditions over the weekend for an overnighter to Donnington Airfield (West of Townsville) where Christian planned a photo shoot of visiting aircraft with the milky way in the background. (Keen to see how they turned out.) A six pack group arrived from destinations like Palmyra Mackay, Heathrow Lethebrook, Longreach and Mareeba and others call in by car from Townsville and others flew in for the breakfast. Clear skies up there and there was light rain when I got back to Palmyra at midday Sunday. All in all a nice trip and the night was not too cold at about 3 degrees.

Christian has another weekend planned now in September when I see the dates I'll post the info.
