jetjr Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Yes your on track but the balance of the prop itself from manufacturer isnt even done spinning, just as a hanging weight i think, not even sure it would be assembled.
Jabiru Phil Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Other than the pitch being factory set, it all goes together like a jigsaw, a perfectly tight fit. There is no tracking adjustments at all so factory must have worked this out with the hub alignment I venture to say that it would not be wise to add any washers for adjustment as all the parts supplied, bolts washers etc are specific for the installation. IMHO. Perhaps a layer or so of paint instead of the washers would suffice. In any case I will not go any further with balancing as this prop is 10 times better than the wooden original and I am not aiming for 12. The type does not allow me to fiddle, which in your case does not apply. Phil.
jetjr Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Understood, Id say balancing a prop would be no problem even under LSA The new props certainly fit together nicely and your right there isnt much room for adjustment On mine there was adequate spare thread to double up washers on 3 bolts, Worst case its some longer bolts required They go on the front so doesnt change anything with prop mounting. You adding weight at the centre so 2-5 gram washers needed to make a difference. So long as your happy thats all that matters, for sure its a huge improvement.
Keenaviator Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Just fitted my new Jabiru Scimitar prop (60 x 38). I had to slightly modify the spinner and backing plate to work with my cowls. All we need now is some decent weather for a test run. Laurie. 1 1
