erd72 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Nice plane, really interesting that use use a Dmotor, Good Job 1
eightyknots Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I'd be very interested to know how well the D-Motor operates in the Savannah.
Skee Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 So first update for D-Motor, the alternator needed a change to a bigger one, there was a guy who discharged his Lithium battery, so when he was flying next time the batery couldnt get full and the alernator just kept charging until it let down. regulator wire was now allot longer :/ I also exchanged my prop hub, the resin in the carbonfiber had some small cracks, all within calculations but D-motor didnt like it so he made prop manufacturer send me a new one. And today me and my other half spent the whole day spraying glue, what a load of work, dont like it.

Skee Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Don't make your aeroplane too heavy with all that glue, Skee . ill probably glue it to the ground anyway.
Skee Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 First of! This Burger was amazing! I got the plates between wings and front window up there, thank god i went to Aero Expo in Germany and photoed the ICP demo, instructions are really useless. Also got the last mats in, i have a many pieces left that i dont know where to put? any ideas? I filled her up with oil and coolant, seems she needed allot, weighed it up again and it went past 297,5kg to about 305kg using a bathroom scale,, (now using a bathroom scale and add three values up could be a misgiving) My surveyor told me the weight only mattered when weighing it in and that i could remove some parts then put it back on after the weigh in, it just happened i talked to the final inspector(he owns the only parts shop in scandinavia) and he didnt actually care and gave me the same tips to make the limit and put everythng back in to get CG right? WTF is the point of removing stuff if both inspectors dont care about final weight? allot of extra work to remove stuff and put it back, why just not lie on the paper instead?!? my surveyor kinda agreed.. Only one leackage..... Prop hub and spinner dont line up?
eightyknots Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 First of! This Burger was amazing! Hopefully, that silvery looking can of "..DKA" next to the burger was equally amazing 1
eightyknots Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Also got the last mats in, i have a many pieces left that i dont know where to put? any ideas? I would store it somewhere or throw it out: why add extra, unnecessary weight? 1
eightyknots Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Just noticed this on Tube: I think there are some big stresses put on this plane which wasn't really designed with aerobatics in mind. I would not like to be the next owner of this plane.
Skee Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Preparing it for weigh-in, just putting it together, then gonna remove cowl and start it up.
Kyle Communications Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 How much prop clearance do you have from the ground? That prop looks pretty big
Skee Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 How much prop clearance do you have from the ground? That prop looks pretty big Dont know, what is a good value? ill check it up today... btw, its -8C outisde today,
Skee Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Other size av when putchasing was "Diameter : 155 or 160 cm " so i have the 160 size,i could have saved 2,5cm, does it make any diff? http://www.shop.electravia.fr/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=150&products_id=230
Kyle Communications Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I have the bigger Bolly Optimer prop and with the 600 wheels I think I have 275mm seems to be enough you just have to be careful on some strips around here
Skee Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Mine is 70 inch so 1778mm Mine is direct drive so prop center is lower....
Skee Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 I have the bigger Bolly Optimer prop and with the 600 wheels I think I have 275mm seems to be enough you just have to be careful on some strips around here 210mm clearance..
Skee Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 So i weighed the plane and made my goals. I also got the elevator autopilot capstan installed, also got the tension measured Found it hard to install belts after i got the carpet in. I hade an argument with the door and wing closure, misfit so i had to modify the wing closure. Anyone knows where these two parts fit? Nice to have doors. Got some more carpet in and some stickers, im no pro at this The aircraft itself will probably work fine, i have done my best with my tools and knowhow, im certain people could have done this allot better, ive learned allot on the way, what to do and what not to do, one is that do not let tape sit to long or it will rip off your paint. For now im doing the Pilot operating handbook, i applied for registration that seems to take forever, need it before applying for everything rest, but most of all i wish it could get warmer outside, -15C dosent help...
Kyle Communications Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 looks great ready to take to the sky soon then
rick morawski Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Anyone knows where these two parts fit? They look like the parts that are riveted to the top of the doors to close the gap at the top. Can't say positively without a better picture, cross section view. For now im doing the Pilot operating handbook, Why dont you use the POH that comes with the kit? Cheers Rick

I have found that the two parts relate to the parachute kit, just don't know where.
dan tonner Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hello Skee; I believe those two parts are the trim pieces that fit under the stabilizer on each side to close the gap between the uipper rear of the fuselage and the bottom of the empennage. Very nice work on your airplane; fly safely, Dan
Skee Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Those two parts look like the ones that are riveted to the top of each door as a trim to align with the wing root. Nop, different shape.
eightyknots Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 2016: the Year of the Savannah for you! the Year of the Monkey for many others.
