rankamateur
How did get the cowling lined up and centred on the prop shaft without the engine installed on the engine mount?
Skee
How did get the cowling lined up and centred on the prop shaft without the engine installed on the engine mount? Pre drilled holes on cowl and firewall made it line up, but you are right, what a nightmare if it does not line up, whatever, I hope it doesn't then I'll order 912 cowl and modify it to fit my d motor, I'm not pleased with the looks directly. Paint night do it...

rick morawski
would this cowling fit? its for a direct drive ulpower engine...... Jeez that one looks a bit over cooked, but I think the firewall shape would be different as well, you would have to check it out.

rankamateur
The 750 looks retarded with only one strut and no jury strut, wonder how many of them will end up folding up in turbulence.
Skee
Nothing much happening except i was in South Africa again, picking up some more items from MGL and vacation with girlfriend, lost bagage in transfer so stuff is missing for now, all that wine Today i got fuel pumps installed, dual pumps with flow valves. Also tested where to put my transponder. And remade the fin that i destroyed earlier. On Monday i will get the engine, Alain from D-motor called me up Friday from Belgium to check if i got engine, thats nice..

Skee
So i got the Cockpit done, with parachute bridles it was allot of work. Also Got the windows on, they are tinted, front windows uses 3M Crystaline 90, and top window uses lightest tint. Also tested the Engine on the mount. Also the Autopilot got moved, this time i put it were ICP wants it, found installation instructions from ICP South Africa. My biggest issue now is that ive entagled myself in EAA and need to clear up some stuff against them, big pain in the but, i am following the instructions, i have weight calculatiosn for D-motor from ICP wich me me means they also approve use of engine on their aircraft. I missaid my self and said i didnt have these documents and i started a rollling stone before i got the documents from ICP, now they wont let it go :/
Kyle Communications
That engine looks so tiny...you wont have any issues getting to the firewall gear that's for sure..the engine sitting out on those long sticks
Skee
Nothing much happening really, its going really slowly, Girlfriend keeps nagging that i only think work and air plane,, what she forgot is that she thinks work, work, work, dogs, dogs, and sleep when she gets home, then she can complain on me wanting to play with my air plane one day a week. I had to shorten the mount a bit, the jabiru bushing was larger, great tool this. So i got the Engine up and it looks lovely. Thing was that i needed the prop shaft to extend out of cowling, either change the shaft(allot of work) or shorten the Cowling(also allot of work), i went for shorting the cowl, wish i hadt now the hood doesnt fit , just another issue to solve. But at last it stands on its own legs.

Skee
So ive shortened the Cowl about 5cm and aligned it, so much work.... Also need to make cutouts in the airintake for oilfilter and oil temp probe. Now to shorten the hood a bit.
Skee
I need to buy a radiator. The cooling capacity at full power must be around 60KW. How do i figure out what size i need? many use Motorcycle radiators.
Kyle Communications
The motor guys should be able to help you with sizes
Skee
Exact size is difficult to say. A lot of depending from your airflow. We have customers with large radiators with cooling problems and we have customer with smaller radiators and no problem at all. We had one customer who instlalled 2 radiators and still had cooling problems. He changed position and now he has to tape part of second radiator. Jurgen his radiator is perfect but much smaller as the one used by other planes. The cooling capacity at full power must be around 60KW. Kind regards Alain Dejager Dennis Häggqvist <[email protected]>20 jan. till D-motor Ok,, sounds interesting, do you know of any place that sells radiators fitting for aircraft? D-motor [email protected] via haggqvist.se20 jan. No. Jurgen his radiator comes from motorbike. No he cant :/ , have to find my own solution. Kyle Communications
well that opening is pretty huge so a radiator to fill just that gap would be fine I would suggest you are going to get heaps of cooling there right in the front. who knows it may even be too much. You might just have to get one made and try it. Lets face it I am sure you are the only savannah with one in it especially with a miss piggy nose
Kyle Communications
I am sure there would be guys over there that make radiators..there is a mob down at the gold coast who make radiators of any shape and size for race cars and the like they make excellent ones and have a good reputation..Paul Wheel is the guys name he and his family used to race the V8 supercars. Cant remember the company name but I could find out. I am sure Trevor Mills has one in his subaru powered missile of a RV8 and he has no issue with his
