There was a video somewhere of a DC3 being started with a rop and ute at Temora couple of years ago.

It's been done often. Just don't let the rope get tangled in the prop once it starts. Nev

The trick is laying the end of the rope along the hub before winding it around so when it comes off the rope is at the end of the hub and not near the blades and pull at a slight angle away from the propeller.
