Bandit the glorious thing about democracy is that nearly half of the people can be unhappy nearly all of the time.

Heavier can be simpler Tom. You can use tried designs not compromise with parts that are undersized like undercarriages seats and have to use exotic materials to keep weight down and limit choice of engines..Nev

I would love to 95.10 get a weight increase, or just remove the limit altogether, just keep a stall speed or wing loading and single seat as limiting factors, then we might see some good stuff, made more affordable with the use of commercial materials and automotive engines. I think though that any factory building something with a higher weight, is probably still going to use dedicated aero engines, and an airframe designed within an inch of it's life, sok that they can claim greater payloads.
