Guest john Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 A Pilot had delivered several slabs of beer to a remote airstrip for family & friends to enjoy over the festive season where they were camping. After the plane had landed & shut down, the Pilot unloaded the slabs. Soon after the Pilot got back into the plane & tried unsuccessfully to start the hot engine. After waiting a further few minutes for the fuel vaporisation to dissipate within the fuel lines, the Pilot again attempted to start the engine & on this occasion the engine backfired through the carby which resulted in a fire starting within the engine bay. Since there was no water or fire extinguishers at this remote airstrip, the people on the ground who had come to collect the valuable slabs of beer did some quick thinking, & hurriedly opened several slabs of beer, shaked the stubbies up , & then popped the tops & sprayed the foaming beer into the engine bay which eventually extinguished the flames. The Pilot then had to do a return flight to obtain more slabs of beer to replace the beer that was wasted in extinguishing the fire in the engine bay of the aircraft.
