Nostalgair Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hi All, Just to let you know that I've released the book about my charity flight around Australia in the Jabiru J230D. It's titled 'Solo Flight' and has around 200 pictures from the trip. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HETIJJ4 Cheers Owen 3 2
Bruce Tuncks Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Congratulations Owen, I'll sure get a copy. It's something I've dreamed of but never got it together to do. But my Jabiru SK has done 45o hours without missing a beat, so it could have. cheers, Bruce 1
PA. Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Could have, would have, should have. Pack a bag and off you fly Bruce. I want to do it too. 1
facthunter Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Proper planning prevents (You know the rest). Gunners down the back of the plane. Make it happen you guys and gals. Putting things off is easy. Nev 1 1 1
Nostalgair Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Hi All, Yes, I was very fortunate to have the chance to undertake this flight. As mentioned by 'facthunter', planning was critical to the flight being both safe and timely. In fact the first few chapters discuss the planning steps that took place long before I ever got off the ground. (You can view these planning chapters for free on Amazon as they allow a 'peak' inside. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HETIJJ4 ) Cheers Owen
cooperplace Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 just bought a copy. Well done Owen on this great fundraiser. Nostalgair Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks 'cooperplace'. The support of this community was great at the time of the flight and has been the same since the book was released. The flight itself was fulfilling on a number of levels. As a fundraiser for the RFDS, to promote the role and history of aviation in Australia and to meet so many wonderful people along the way. Without doubt the flight is a highlight of my 17,000 hours of flying and 49 years of living. Cheers mate, Owen 2
cooperplace Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 just finished reading it: couldn't put it down. A really nice read, very enjoyable. 2
Nostalgair Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks again 'cooperplace'. The feedback is greatly appreciated. It makes the effort of putting the flight down in words and images all worthwhile. Cheers, Owen 1
