Guest drossi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I stumbled onto this forum while looking for plans for the Culver Dart which I believe I have found thanks to the fine folks on this site. My current interest is in aircraft from the Golden Age of Aviation. I'm a bit of an amateur plans collector and would love to correspond with anyone having aircraft plans from the early years of aviation (or any period really). Having said that, I am basically interested in all things aviation and look forward to participating in some of the conversations on the forum. Before anyone asks, the Midget Mustang I am sitting in isn't mine. Currently, I only dream of having such a fine flying machine! Cheers
Old Koreelah Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Welcome aboard, Drossi. When was this "Golden Age" of aviation? Maybe we're in the middle of it now! Nostalgia usually has rose-coloured spex. My mum used to say that "the good old days" were, at the time referred to as "these hard times". If your interest extends to military stuff, I have plans for an awesome aircraft designed by a bloke called Jiro Horikoshi. I adapted the A6M to a 75% replica ultralight with Peugeot diesel engine (to achieve range similar to the original).
Guest drossi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Thank you Old Koreelah. I totally agree with your perspective as much more is available to us now as was back in the 20's and 30's. Still, I really love the look of the old racers, Travelair Model R and the Wedell Williams aircraft. How "Golden" that era was, I'm certain, is open to interpretation! Great looking aircraft, in my opinion, just the same. Thanks again for the welcome!
facthunter Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I think you will find a few here. Have you looked at a Parasol? Basic simple and pure design. Or if you want more a Polikarpov? Nev
Guest drossi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Facthunter, No, I haven't seen a Parasol. I'll look it up tonight. I just recently got a book on Polikarpov aircraft for Christmas. Lots of great period photographs. Thanks for the information. Dave R
