Guest ozzie
Got my renewal papers for the Lazair and here i go again. After last years mess with the missing plackard one would think all the paper work is up to speed. Seems not. Now they want a tp weigh it again and want the wing area fuel capacity and get it signed. Hellooo what happened to the paperwork that was submitted when it first regoed. Lost that too. Hey Major WTF is going on in Canberra I got no bloody confidence in these numnuts. greybeard
Seems pretty straight forward to me, weigh it and get the wing area fuel capacity. Hardly rocket science. Especially as it weighs exactly the same as last time you had it weighed and the fuel capacity hasn't changed. :)

Guest ozzie
All paperwork including W&B dimensions fuel all signed off by L2 when submitted original data package. So why again. Have they lost it? Board members note NOT HAPPY WITH CONTINUING POOR PERFORMANCE! !!

Keith Page
Hello Ozzie You are not alone with the frustration, I have my renewal sitting here:- Under photographs required:- [] "Warning placard" wait for it (closer photo) yes true.. Well the plane was regestered originaly then get it through the debacle last year, now this. Come on someone is having an air brain moment. I think the goal posts have great big wheels under them. Guest ozzie
Have responded to "Kind Regards, Scribble scribble Aircraft admin". Interesting to note that the empty weight info they ask for is listed on the data sheet they sent with the renewal.

Ozzie and all others, I can tell you that things to do with the registration debacle changed bigtime for the better, just prior to Xmas. This very positive news should have been shared immediately with the members, via the RAAus website, but wasn't. I have bitched about this to numerous people, and prompt updating of the website needs to be addressed as a priority in the new year. It is a major failing in the RAAus communication with the members ATM. All that being said, the membership will like the new changes, and hopefully it will mean an effective end , or at least a major improvement in the actioning of rego applications, and the speed theroff......We have a very capable Techman now in place, and we expect Darren will perform very effectively also..............Maj....... Keith Page
Hi! Maj A very big happy New Year to you and a special thank you for all your effort you are putting in, Thank you again, you are special, should be nominated for Australian of the year. Just a last giggle regarding my renewal of the aircraft rego, on the data sheet it is mentioned make/type/model of propeller and now on the renewal they are asking that exact question when the information is already captured. Regards Keith Page.
facthunter
Maybe they are just testing you Keith. Remember the plane doesn't fly till the paperwork equals it's weight. Basic rule of Australian aerodynamics Nev 2
Keith Page
Thank you Facthunter----Yes I did forget that equation-------. I remeber last year when the Lightwing had to be regestered, they wanted enough photos for a photo novel and reams of paper information, I collated the lot and sent it all on a stick and a note "Use what you need". That worked. Regards Keith Page.
ave8rr
Ozzie and all others, I can tell you that things to do with the registration debacle changed bigtime for the better, just prior to Xmas. Ross, are we still going to have to display the rego numbers under the port wing when the new tech manual is issued? GA has done away with this. I thought RAA and GA systems were aligned in this regard. Happy New Year and keep up the good work you are doing in regards to posts to this site. Cheers

CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY REGULATIONS 1998 - REG 45.045 Number and location of sets of markings--fixed-wing aircraft (1) On a fixed-wing aircraft, 3 sets of the aircraft's markings must be displayed, as follows: (a) 1 set either on the under surface of the port wing or across the under surface of both wings, in each case as set out in subregulation (2); (b) the 2 other sets on: (i) the fuselage, as set out in subregulation (3); or (ii) engine nacelles or similar fixed obstructions on the fuselage, as set out in subregulation (5); or (iii) the vertical tail, as set out in subregulation (6). I had a similar thing Keith with the new rego of my hornet when it came through they asked for a photo of warning placard on dash which was supplied with original paperwork, I rang them and asked if they got the photo they answered yes, I asked why the request for another and they answered they wanted a closer one. The one I sent was easily readable. But nevertheless another photo I will take and send off. I must say though that all the people I spoke to on the phone were extremely helpful and friendly it was well worth the time to call them and talk to them:cell:
frank marriott
ave8rr Thanks for that. I had read somewhere of some exemptions [i thought it was in a CAAP but maybe not] As I read it, the situation is still an exemption when granted for a specific reason. I don't see how the RAA tech manual could exempt the whole RAA fleet. Maybe just include the provision to apply for an exemption. Not a major concern of mine, but I was just indicating that it is still a requirement unless an exemption has been obtained.

Guest Maj Millard
Further, I have just perused the Tech manual draft, and in registration requirements (sect 7.4.1. Para 8.2) it does require a photo of the rego numbers on the port wing. From that I can assum that it will be a continuing requirement. Please bare in mind this is still a draft which may change, and does not even come close to being law until approved by CASA and the RAA board........Maj.... Russ
The saga getting my 160c re registered was accomplished, but RAA insisted I must display a placard in clear view for passengers to see stating "this aircraft is not built to normal aircraft standards, passengers are at their own risk"......or something like that. Hang on RAA I says, this 160 is "certified" by casa, so you are saying it,s not worth a pinch of ####. This certification thing. Anyway just to get my rego, I fitted that placard, stuffed if I know what the go is.
pmccarthy
I would think the placard photo needs to be far enough back to identify the context, aircraft ident etc to reasonably show it is the right aircraft. You take a a full frame of a placard, but that would prove nothing.

farri
Don`t know if this will help anyone but I took seperate photos of the placard and rego markings, emailed them and added a decleration that I being the sole owner of the aircraft took these photos on the particular day ( not the exact wording of my declaration, example only ) I was issued my rego. Gees Ross, I`d like to think that you are correct!...But!.....I`m in the process of submitting my documentation for re-regrestration of the Drifter and gues what!.. I`ve been asked for some of the info that I gave them last rego time. How can any of us continue to have confidence in the system when this continues to happen. When and how long is it going to take them to get it all sorted out? Frank.
