astroman Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 There is an old thread on here if you can dig it up...
sandman Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Live by the sword...... Die by the sword, some people are that way programmed, just what we need more regulations thanks to idiots!!!.
alf jessup Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Lost a wing in his short time impressing others with his reckless attitude towards flying Says it all in the coroners report, as sad as it is it was only a matter of time. It is sad for the families left behind as it was preventable and could well have been avoided. Alf
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Unfortunatly because of this pilots illegal actions, and due to the specific recommendations of the Coroner, we will probabily feel the ramifications of this incident in the future. The requirement of a Level 2 inspection at re- registration could if adopted, become a major inconvenience on all members...............Maj....
shafs64 Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 why should we pay for other peoples stupidly. even if they had L2 inspections for drifter do you think he would followed that rule.

Alf I may be wrong , but I'm fairly certain that the aircraft was flown into the ground, and that there was no structural failure, the coroner had concerns over the condition of the aircraft, and the idea that a pilot was allowed to maintain his own aircraft.

I'm sure it lost a wing or wing folded if it was the one up near Casino, but then again I could be wrong but fairly confident this was the accident.

Alf Still trying to find the same information I saw some time ago, which said something about a suspected cable failure, but turned out that he stalled or spun and did not recover before hitting the ground. There was a very lengthy thread about this a while ago, so, it could have been there, or I could be thinking of different crash.

At the end of the day unfortunately he was an accident waiting to happen and unfortunately it did with a passenger buying the farm also in the process. Quite a few videos were posted by the pilot and or his friends of his antics prior to the accident happening, I think a lot were taken off Youtube after it. Sadly it was an avoidable waste of life where ego and bravado was bigger than everything else, sure he may have been skilful as a pilot but not a good pilot also with his attitude to aviation. Like I have said many times on here everyone thinks it will happen to someone else, but peoples surnames get changed to someone else the day it doesn't go as planned. Sad waste of lives. 1

I stand corrected M61A1, Must have been another accident somewhere in the world that I read that the wing folded or departed from the aircraft. Alf
