shafs64 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 hay does anyone have an idea what those things are they look like dive planes on a U boat
kaz3g Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Looks like a canard wing to me...there is a Cessna C 182 mod that uses these to give super STOL performance called the Peterson Wren. There was one of these C182s operating in Victoria a few years ago and I heard it was for sale. There was another one being rebuilt by Eddie L at Coldstream. This guy is a bit of a wizard with restorations. Kaz
XP503 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I remember thinking the same thing when I saw this picture a long time ago, by the looks of their position they must be connected to the rudder pedals and I presume assist with adverse yaw? Certainly not a common mod. The fabric on her wings is very loose too. Not a good fabric job........
shafs64 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 what issues would the loose fabric cause
farri Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The top surface isn`t too bad! The creases are running off from the point of the battons. Having made up a few sets of skins, it looks to me like the fabric has been sewn wrong! Air pressure would take up some of the slack but it certainly would have some effect on performance! The tighter and smoother the skins the better the performance. Frank.
astroman Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 A good example of the 182 mod! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cessna-182-Peterson-260SE-Conversion-with-BRS-ballistic-parachute-/141178106708?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20dedef354&item=141178106708&pt=Motors_Aircraft
Guest ozzie Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Rudder? Maybe Elevator. Loose skins poor performance.
Guest ozzie Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Ok shafs64 What is the background on this. Where did the image come from?
PA. Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 A Google search found the picture here. http://www.girlswithwings.com/Bios/Arty.html
shafs64 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 doesn't say anything about it in her blog.
