Guest john Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 None of the following current tax items listed in the humorus poem below existed in this once great country of ours called Australia 100 years ago when we were one of the most prosperous nations on this planet, so what has gone wrong with our elected so called politicians who line their own pockets first & foremost? Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax his table, at which he's fed Tax his work, Tax his pay, He who works for peanuts anyway Tax his cow, tax his goat, tax his pants tax his coat Tax his tobacco, tax his drink, tax him if he tries to think Tax his car, tax his gas, find other ways to tax his ass Tax all he has, then let him know, that you won't be done till he has no dough When he screams & hollers, then tax him some more, tax him till he's good & sore Then tax his coffin, tax his grave, tax the sod which he's laid When he's gone do not relax, it's time to apply the inheritance tax. More of todays current tax items: Accounts receivable tax, airline surcharge tax, airline fuel tax, airport maintenance tax, building permit tax,Cigarette tax, Corporate income tax, goods & services tax, death tax, dog licence tax, driving permit tax, environmental tax (fee), excise tax, federal income tax, fishing licence tax, petrol tax, health tax, hunting licence tax, interest tax, liquor tax, luxury taxes, marriage licence tax, medicare tax, mortgage tax, personal income tax, property tax, poverty tax, prescription drug tax, real estate tax, vehicle tax, retail sales tax, service charge tax, school tax, vehicle registration tax, vehicle sales tax, water tax, watercraft registration tax, well permit tax, workers compensation tax etc, etc.
Guest Andys@coffs Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I always used to laugh at the RPT Airlines applying items that had tax in the name and then seeing GST applied to them...The general rule of thumb was you cant tax a tax, so maybe the first "tax" wasn't actually imposed by a government body.......Truth in advertising...as they say!
Stoney Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Funny, but I think you will find that a lot of these are from other countries and don't apply in Australia. 1
