Yenn Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Good one Mick. Will you be there this weekend for the meeting?
Mick Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Good one Mick. Will you be there this weekend for the meeting? Sure will. Are you going to make it or are you still half legless? 1
planedriver Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 No mention of fine RC models. You must be slipping Mick!
Yenn Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Threw the crutches away on Thursday. A bit weak in the knwws, so far.
Yenn Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I threw the crutches away on thursday, still weak in the knees.
Mick Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 No mention of fine RC models. You must be slipping Mick! If CASA play the game and give the approval, there might just be a display of a 30% scale model of Matt Hall's race plane:whistling: Should complement Matt's own display well.
Mick Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 I threw the crutches away on thursday, still weak in the knees. Good to hear you are mobile, see you Sunday.
planedriver Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 If CASA play the game and give the approval, there might just be a display of a 30% scale model of Matt Hall's race plane:whistling: That would be worth seeing Mick. One of your collection?
Mick Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Just bumping this thread to remind everyone it's only 3 weeks to go. Don't forget Friday night dinner with Matt Hall as speaker is by pre-booking only.
Doug Evans Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 If CASA play the game and give the approval, there might just be a display of a 30% scale model of Matt Hall's race plane:whistling:Should complement Matt's own display well. Casa going to be there ?
Yenn Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Latest is that there will be a display Sat at 3pm for 1 hour. It will probably be warbirds mainly.
Mick Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 No reason for CASA to be there. This is a Fly-in ( not an airshow ) with some displays, on a private strip. CASA have not been there since the airshow was dropped. The application for permit to fly a model never even went to CASA, we were unable to come up with a position to have the model display that would meet CASA's requirements. See You there!!! 1
Mick Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 Just bumping this thread to remind everyone this great event is now less than a week away. I was out at Old Station yesterday, preparations are coming along well. We are expecting a big crowd. The sit down dinner Friday night is sold out, if you are planning on getting there Friday there will be other food available. I will be there from Wednesday onwards. See you there!!! 1
Doug Evans Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Heading down Friday weather permitting think about 6 or more from the north 1
cscotthendry Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Weather permitting, this little black duck will be there with bells on. I've booked my dinner tickets.
Graham Pukallus Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 -------- Fly-in Update -------- THE OLD STATION FLY-IN AND HERITAGE SHOW Preliminary photos of Old Station Fly In, thus far at 3pm Friday. 40 planes arrived so far with Matt Hall just taxiing in as I post. Big night organised with pilots dinner and talk by Matt Hall. 2
Kyle Communications Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 my Rego didn't come back :(....rang them today but no joy they are "reviewing" their internal procedures again
Mick Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Further update......... I made the big flight of 22.3 nm from Gladstone in the Skylark this morning in beautiful air. Plenty of interesting aircraft here already including Trojan, Texan, Yak 52, L39 Albatross, Bird Dog and of course Matt Hall's Extra 300L. There is a gaggle of Lightwings, a pair of Petrels and a bunch of Savannahs. As far as GA goes there is the expected Cessnas, a Lake Buccaneer, a Bonanza & a Commanche. Great dinner tonight, followed by an interesting talk by Matt Hall. I got to meet Matt personally and got my 30% scale model of his race plane signed. Hopefully get some pics tomorrow with Matt, myself, his Extra & my model. The weather is looking good so it is shaping up to be a great weekend. 2
cscotthendry Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Well, what a great event. Definitely a must do for next year
Graham Pukallus Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Just returned home from one of the best weekends and flyins at The Old Station, unsurpassed entertainment throughout the weekend for flyers and non flyers. Even the photos don't do Justice to this huge event organised by Leonie Creed and her massive team. Weather perfect with warm days and nights unlike the past few years, Matt Hall was inspirational in all areas of presentations throughout the weekend. In excess of 80 aircraft and 50 + caravans / Motorhomes, the weekend went off like clockwork, Doug Mc Cullough arrived with 6 other planes from their flying holiday in nearby Great Keppel Island, members of the QRAA club, to enjoy and support The Old Station Flyin. Great to catch up with old mates and meet amazing pilots and their aircraft from all aspects of aviation. 3

To everybody else, if you missed this event, you have the permission of those of us who went, to feel sorry for yourself. It's definitely on my ToDo list for next year.
Mick Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 In excess of 80 aircraft We actually logged the arrival of just over 150 aircraft . It was my wife doing the meet & greet of arriving aircraft. Thanks to all who attended, what a great weekend. 1 2
