Be careful what you eat

The hostess was having a gathering of local friends over for dinner, & wanted to serve mushrooms smothered steak as part of the menu, but she had forgot to buy the mushrooms when she was out shopping earlier that day. She therefore suggested to her husband to go & pick some mushrooms that are growing wild down by the creek.

 

The husband told his wife that some wild mushrooms are poisonous. The wife replied that she had seen the squirrels in the area eating the mushrooms & therefore they must be ok. So the husband picked a bunch of mushrooms & his wife cleaned & cooked them & prepared them with the steak. The wife had some mushrooms left over & gave them to Spot the dog rather than throw them out, & the dog ate all of the leftover mushrooms.

 

When the guests arrived later that evening for dinner, they were served steak & mushrooms with their main course meal which they all enjoyed, & after the guests left the washing up had to be attended to. Sally the daughter came into the kitchen where her mother was & said to her mother that Spot is dead.

 

The mother became very concerned that the guests would become ill from the mushrooms they had eaten & immediately called the local Doctor & told him what had happened. The Doctor replied that this was an unfortunate incident however since the guests were all living in the neighbourhood, he would contact each of the guests & ask them to come immediately to his surgery for the required medical treatment, where he would pump out their stomachs, perform an enema & give them some tablets to prevent them from becoming ill.

 

After the last guest was treated , the Doctor told the hostess that everyone will now be ok, however everybody was now fatigued from the medical treatment they each received.

 

When the mother arrived home after her medical treatment , Sally the daughter came into the sittingroom & told her mother that the man whose car ran over Spot the dog earlier that evening didn't even bother to slow down after hitting Spot.
