I guess you could fly during that time, but be prepared for the Men In Black to visit you in hospital after the RAAF shoot you down... and 171 Squadron abseils into your lounge to kidnap the cat.

While I can appreciate the need for security during this conference, I really feel that such a wide ban is an infringement on our civil liberties, and is perversly undemocratic.

Besides, if someone does decide to launch an air attack on APEC, they will do it anyway. I guess having a no-fly zone will make them a tad more obvious on the radar.

While on the subject, I wonder if the US will fly their mobile phone jamming helicopters while Dhubya is in town?

* Oh and by the way, if you feel like a nice safe flight, come on over to Shepparton, we will always make you feel welcome*

The Govt has already indicated that they will be jamming the mobile phone network in the area that the mobsters are in. Whether the US will fly theirs too, just to be sure I do not know. Personally I can't see why they would...071_yawn.gif.43c7f5f86675fec124ffe33bd2e896f0.gif

If you don't like it. get rid of John Howard and his mates at the next election.

If you do you may be exposed to all the terrorism that Bush and Howard have warned about, but in that case you will be as gullible as our government was when it followed Bush junior into Iraq,

Is this true that no recreational registered aircraft are permitted? I fly VH registered aircraft, and they are certainly permitted to fly in that area as long as the operator registered by a certain date, an approval number obtained and a flight plan is submitted for each flight. The aircraft must have a radio and transponder though. Is this the same for recreational aircraft or is there some sort of difference? Surely recreational aircraft wouldn't be banned if VH registered aircraft can fly? Has everyone registered?

Of course it is inconvenient ... but so is closing off some of the CBD.

By the way, I don't think Rudd would have done anything differently (because he seems to copy everything the Howard Government does anyway). Come to think of it, what will Rudd do when he can't follow the lead of Howard any more??!!

Mazda, as far as I was informed even GA registered with transponder, flight plan etc etc must have a bloody good reason and it's virtually a no-go. Let me know how you go with it. I would be interested to know as I'm not sure what the go will be exactly. Good luck.

Darren,

The go is that there is *no go*.

Have a look at the crash comics. All flight plans had to be submitted by some time ago if I recall.

I suggest that NO ONE tries to fly over that period *anywhere* near the 45 nm line. Leaving your wing 5 metres out of the line on your gps wont help either. These boys are serious.

Frankly, I wont be even flying around Mittagong, Katoomba or anywhere else anywhere near Sydney.

If you have ever been tootling along at 2,000' and heard on the rad: f111 @ 500 fast departing x tracking for (just where you are at that moment) ete 1.5 minutes you will know not to try it. :-) Makes you "puccker up" as they say.

Of course, you could wear funny undies...

Oh! I just remembered: I will be in Ankor Wat for then anyhow :-)

Best advise given so far mate unless ofcourse, as you mentioned, you want Pro Hart undies 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

Where have you heard the "no go" from? I registered by the date required and received all the paperwork, registration details etc, then had a representative go to the briefing. Flying schools attended the briefing and they sure plan to operate during that time. There was no need to submit plans long ago. A request must be put in 24 hours in advance and a flight plan lodged (even for circuits). An approval number will be issued for each flight.

I plan to go to a fly-in during that time so I'll need approval to get in and out of my home airport.

I believe you can fly around SY during APEC as long as you're pre-approved, submit a flight plan and have COM/XPDR.

Have a look at http://www.airservices.gov.au/publications/current/sup/s7-h23.pdf

There are two components, R902 where you can fly if you're approved, and the HIDACZ closer to SY where you cant fly if you're "non-essential".

But if you do fly during APEC it might be a good idea to brush up on your military intercept procedures.

anyone planning on testing out the procedures please fly in the st marys region as i want to see how a F111 can slow enough to escort a drifter 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

Sunny and I can arrange that!!! 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif Maybe with their ejection seat? On a serious note. someone I know that is an instructor at a flying school at Bankstown said no go for them so if they are not flying I doubt a PPL with a flight plan that could mean God-knows what will be able to fly. Seriously, let me know how you go guys. There is no malice here but I simply think it just will not happen for you. On another note, I would love to see CFI's claim for lost revenue due the restrictions which I think is a fair thing. The one day paid off the govt is offering is a pee in the wind compared to some of the revenue flying schools will loose through this garbage.

a little change of direction in the thread. any ideas on how to get some video of these flying around ie. do you think they will be flying patterns when there not chassing drifters . i was thinking they may be flying the circle or just hanging around the city area

I suggest that you all go flying about 1 km outside the exclusion zone if you really want to go flying and make sure that your GPS is giving you the correct distance from the centre and you have the radio tuned to the right frequency.

When the information packs get sent out 2 days after the closing date for applications to fly in the exclusion zone ,as they did , and there were no exceptions for late applications , then I tend to think it may be a no go somehow ..088_censored.gif.2b71e8da9d295ba8f94b998d0f2420b4.gif
