The Compassionate Judge

Ethel the 82 year old was arrested for shoplifting. When she went before the court the Judge asked her "What did you steal?" She replied a can of peaches.

 

The Judge asked her why she had stolen the can of peaches, & she replied that she was hungry.

 

The Judge then asked her how many peaches were in the can & she said 6.

 

The Judge then said in passing sentence "Then I will impose 6 days in gaol".

 

Before the Judge could conclude the trial, the womans husband, Bill spoke up & asked the Judge if he could say something about Ethel. & the Judge replied "Yes, what is it you wish to say".

 

Bill then told the Judge that Ethel also stole a can of peas .
