Gnarly Gnu Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Hey Phil there used to be these 'Lion Parks' in Australia with a sign out the front: ENTRANCE FEE - $10.00 per car POMS ON PUSHBIKES - Admitted FREE PS Actually our car DID break down in the Lion park. Quite entertaining actually. 1
Guernsey Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 If the pub was located exactly on the international date line and the sign was in the front bar, could you not go into tomorrow (the rear bar) and get your free beer??? Alan. ps My wife celebrated her birthday twice on a flight to America a few years ago by crossing the date line. 2
bexrbetter Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 My sister in her barmaid days was quite quite happy to give free milkshakes (strong iced coffee!) at night to uncontrolled kids running around as payback to the parents.

Quite entertaining actually. Years ago my parents had a mk2 jaguar with a leather sunroof, most of the roof slide back when open, I remember we where in one of the old style lion parks when a big male climb onto the roof of a VW beetle in front of us, my old man was straight on the horn to get us out of there, Matty 1

Phil Perry Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 HOWEVER. . . . . . I have ( recently ) visited the "CROOKED HOUSE" at Himley, ( near to Dudley, West Midlands, . . .the home of the famous Zoo. . .) and this place is legendary in the Black Country as it was severely distorted by mining subsidence many years ago, (ch has now been stabilised, I might add. . . .) this pub is all sorts of shapes, and there is a serious optical illusion when you finally manage to open the bar door against a lot of gravity, and notice that there are no straight lines or level bits anywhere in sight and that a bottle placed at the bottom end of the bar actually rolls uphill. . . .! . . .NO, Really, it does . . . .I'm amazed that some enterprising person hasn't "You Tubed" this yet. . . . regrettably, this pub is NOT on the itinerary of the weekly roving "Black Country Bus". . .a double deck bus which roves around all of the popular pubs in the Midlnads and has itself got a bar and bar staff. . . .it just Can't get along the narrow track to the Crooked House, . . . .terrible shame. . . . 1
