Russ Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 This upcoming Easter, commencing Easter Friday, finishing Easter Monday, is the Australian gyro nationals. Workshops, events, discussions, and of course.....gyros buzzing about everywhere. There will be numerous 2 seaters, so now,s your chance to grab a ride. Hotels....motels.....nearby, or camp at the strip, as most do. Fuel avail, catering etc etc. I hear you asking where...........Wondai, Qld. Just north of kingaroy, 35m. I'll set a cat amongst the pigeons, and rock up in me jab160, after 30 plus yrs owning gyros. Anybody.......will be most welcome, that,s guaranteed. 1
Captain Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Why would the Aussie Gyro Nationals be set on a date that clashes with Natfly? I can understand the desire of an organisation like ASRA to want to be separate to RA-Aus, but surely they know that they are competing in some way for the same potential owners and there has always to date been good representation of Gyros at Natfly. I hope that both events don't suffer.
Russ Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Been Easter since Noah floated the arc, several times in more recent yrs, a joint gathering has been done at the natfly, interest shown was good.......but.... Rules / regs, etc etc that are demanded at natfly, caused some frustrations of gyro flyers. Traditionally for the gyro folks, the nationals also include a lot of yank and bank, mid field base / finals etc......spot landing comps, short field takeoff comps, slowest low leval beat up, flour bomb drop comps, etc etc, and of course, countless TIFS. All of this above.....and more, does,nt fit into the natfly scene. A gyro in experienced hands is full on yank and bank stuff, folks not understanding this, see these operations as dangerous, generally. That assumption is so far from factual, but common. The gyro of today, and the gyro of early yrs, is comparing apples to oranges, yet....we still have the odd home builder, trying to cut corners, reduce build costs, self train etc etc, those chaps do a great job at causing grief for the rest of the gyro community. I,m starting to waffle here......do yourselves a favour, jump into a modern machine, you will be seriously impressed.
