Fred was a poultry farmer. He had several hundred young pullets & 10 roosters to fertilize the eggs. He kept records & any rooster not performing who next went into the soup pot & was replaced. This record keeping took up valuable time & so Fred changed this procedure by fitting bells of differing tones to each of the 10 roosters, which then allowed him to tell from a distance which rooster was or was not performing. Now Fred could sit on his porch & complete his efficiency reports by just listening to the sounds of each bell.

Freds favourite rooster, old Butch was a very fine specimen, but Fred noticed that old Butch's bell hadn't rung for the past couple of days. When Fred went to investigate, he observed that the remaining roosters were chasing the pullets & their bells were ringing, & the pullets hearing the ringing of the bells would run for cover.

To Freds amazement , old Butch had his bell located in his beak so it would not ring, which resulted in old Butch being able to sneak up onto a pullet, do his job, & then rush off to the next nearby bird.

Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him into the local annual show, which resulted in old Butch being awarded several prizes by the show judges, which prizes were called "The No Bell Piece Prize, & The Pullettsurprise".

Clearly old Butch then became known as a "politician in the making".

This scenario could be likened to our politicians who connivingly figure out how to sneak up on the unsuspecting populace & then screw them when they aren't paying attention, which is a lesson to us little people to vote very carefully next election, because you can't always hear the bells.096_tongue_in_cheek.gif.d94cd15a1277d7bcd941bb5f4b93139c.gif
