derekliston Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Absolutely historic day. Ran the engine and taxied for the first time. Couldn't believe the engine started on the second blade after 5yrs sitting idle! Intended to upload short video but it wont work. 3
David Isaac Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well done Derek, now tell us all what the hell you started. LOL 1
rankamateur Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Congratulations Derek. It seems so long ago that I was at your place, the fuselage ang wings seemed complete, and you warned me that life gets in the way! You weren't kidding. I now understand exactly what you meant. My Rotax has been sitting in it's box for nearly a year, I just hope it is as patient as your Jab has been.
derekliston Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 Well done Derek, now tell us all what the hell you started. LOL Sorry, I was on such a high. It should have been posted on the CH701 forum/thread. Although if the video had loaded it would have made more sense! That Jabiru engine had sat idle for about five years. I did check tappets and compressions before I attempted to start it but it started on the second blade, not even one full rev. To say my gast was flabbered would be an understatement. Now I just have to get it GA legal and it can fly (I hope) 2
facthunter Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I wouldn't like it to be considered normal or desirable to leave an engine for 5 years and just start it up. I'm curious.... . was it inhibited? Nev
Keenaviator Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Mine was a first start after 14 years. Second blade after mags turned on and yes, well inhibited. Laurie.
Tadge Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Good work Derek, Look forward to the video. Brendon
