Phil Perry Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I went through a stage thinking the opposite and after working for myself for 20yrs and had a gut full was playing with the idea of working for someone until my wife said how long have you work for someone and dealing with the public, She said I'll give you 2 weeks before you someone by the throat, so still playing it safe and working solo. I can empathise with that Guy,. . .I worked for a National company servicing neon sign displays in clubs and theme restaurants, diner chains etc. . . UK wide, and was, generally left to my own devices. When I was asked to take a management trainee out on the road for a few days, I rapidly became irritated and annoyed with some of the ( to me) silly damned questions I was asked,. . .especially about the technical bits, I'm sure you know the story,. . .university education, knew all the theory,. . .but zero practical application of it. I am actually glad, that I did not throttle the chap, . . who was of quite small stature, and more than a little effeminate,. . . ( that bit didn't bother me ) what did bother me was the stress in not being able to slap him a bit, without causing death a bit. Anyway, long story short, I remained self inflicted until my semi retirement on June 2nd this year. . . the UK North manager told me that I was NOT a good team player. . . . Doncha just Lurve managementspeak. . .?
facthunter Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 What he meant was. You are older than him and he will not have you pulling rank by showing your experience. Nev
Guest Howard Hughes Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Haven't checked in for some time, where did all these maths problems come from? Not sure I've ever needed to solve one of those, in any aircraft I have flown! Piloting is a simple business really, so long as you know enough maths to always land with more fuel than you required, you are good to go!
