Guest extralite Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Not sure if this has been discussed before, but has anyone installed any type of synthetic vision systems in their recreational aircraft? I see lots of RV's etc in the USA have them, but very little here. If you do have one, what is it and how has it worked out?
dlegg Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I have installed an MGL Avionics Voyager system with syn vision. It is remarkably accurate in its detail, shows hills, ranges around my area as a direct copy of what is seen out the canopy. The Efis unit also runs the autopilot, will fly routes with as many way points as you like, can use vector or raster maps etc. Fine piece of kit.
mkennard Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I have the Dynon Skyview but I don't use the synthetic vision as mush as the colour coding on the skyview moving map. I find that useful to get guidance for flight above AGL.
Downunder Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Have it on the skyview. For RAA aircraft it's basically a novelty......
rgmwa Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Have it on the skyview. For RAA aircraft it's basically a novelty...... Although it would show you which way was up if you ever had the misfortune to find yourself in IMC. Could be life-saver in that situation. rgmwa
