shags_j Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Hi All, Was at Caboolture today and saw a 19 reg experimental. It was a taildragger, low wing but the tail plane was actually more like a full wing. Looked a bit bizarre. Cheers, Shags
Old Koreelah Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 There is at least one of these in Oz: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quickie_Aircraft
Old Koreelah Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I thought so too Shags, until one visited our local. Slippery and impressive it may be, but he used an awful lot of tar to get it into the air. I don't want to think about how it would go landing in a paddock if the noise stopped.
metalman Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 There was one one those at YCAB for years ,owned by a Jap Air 747 pilot, I was keen on buying the PA20 he had ,chatting to him he reckons the quickie was heavy and not that fast ,interesting to look at though Matty
Gpshaun Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 There was one in Wangaratta at the museum next to Clive Cannings T18 but that was a while back.

shags_j Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 That would be the one I was looking at. The owner was asian wearing pilots gear.
Ballpoint 246niner Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Yep that's Yoshi, he'll of nice guy and Nippon Air Captain- a true aviation enthusiast like many at YCAB 1
Guest ozzie Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Another Rutan design. There was another two seat similar design called the Dragon Fly. Quick to build off plans and seemed like all the rage back in the late seventies early eighties.

shags_j Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Actually looking at the dragonfly I think you might be right. His might be that one. Wish I took a photo now.
