I just enjoyed a great 2.5 hour flight in ideal weather.

Enjoyment was a bit tainted by inadvertently crossing the relocated drop zone D360 at Nagambie while parachute ops were in progress. Fortunately I made a traffic call and we avoided a problem.

It seems D360 has been moved south, so that it now sits exactly where I was attempting to thread through between D360 and R351A/B, a logical east-west flight path . I was relying on the current Melbourne VNC which shows D360 in the old position.

There is probably a NOTAM about this, I have not yet checked, but I don't normally look for NOTAMs about places where I will not be transiting or landing. One to watch out for.

AIC 11/14 effective 29 May 2014 includes a notation that D365 replaces D360. YMNG is now YMNW and has moved a bit but not sure how much.

Lots of other changes in the AIC, too, including quite a few affecting recreational aviation. Worth reading.

The guy at Nagambie is very proprietary about his D zone and self- preservation instincts probably ought prevail.

Don Cross is the owners name. Been around for quite a while and from a military background. One of the best drop zones in the country for producing first class instructors and skydivers. very straight down the line operator.

Fantastic new facility, absolute credit to Don and his wife. Nothing like the good old days at Pakenham or Labertouche.

PAC XL750 to FL14 in 5 or 6 minutes.

Love the landing fee in ERSA - take a look.

HI all,

my farm is close to Nagambie parachute drop zone and I was under their flight path today.

It has moved about 10 ks to the South West from it's original strip at Kirwins Bridge on Lake Nagambie to South of Baileston West of Nagambie.

I have heard that there has been a few pilots that have strayed into the new area as it 's not common knowledge that they have moved,

I reckon drop pilots must be charged a per second rate for use of their radio........I was flying recently (Saturday last) from Grafton down to Cessnock and Taree was active at the time, as was Maitland and Elderslie drop zones.... The calls made by some of the pilots seemed to cover paragraphs of info in about 3 seconds flat....I couldn't make head nor tail of it but the area controller seemed to understand just fine and gave clearance and could presumably see VFR aircraft in the area so I presumed it was just me that was deficient in being able to understand...... What did I get from the calls......they were dropping presumably close to those 3 places and I was therefore going to avoid at all costs being anywhere near them.

It would be great if they could slow down a bit so that us weekend warriors who don't hear the calls anywhere near as often as they make them, could try and make head nor tail of it.....

When approaching Elderslie and you hear the Caravan pilot mumbling just ask him to say again 'all after callsign'.

It really annoys him. Then if the aircraft is on the ground just fly straight over the top, this gets the clubs president wound right up as he thinks he owns the airspace.

BTW rumour control reports jump ops are moving off Maitland. They were jumping into the Maitland showground yesterday.
